“When Ellie and Devon’s wedding day finally arrives, Chuck must save Ellie’s life and her big day from being ruined by Ted Roark and Fulcrum.”
The season finale of Chuck Episode “Chuck Vs The Ring” was incredable and just as expected so was its soundtrack. I will wait a couple of days before describing last nights episode just so I dont spoil it for the few that haven’t seen it. If you enjoy the music from chuck, you might also enjoy the Season finale of Life music as well as the Lie to me soundtrack I posted a couple of weeks ago.
Here are some of the songs for the season finale of Chuck Epsidoe: “Chuck vs The Ring“:

Yes, I know we are past St. Patrick’s Day but that doesn’t matter as the Young Dubliners aren’t just known for being an Irish Rock band, they are well recognized for great dynamic songs and memorable live performances. In fact, it would not be fair to categorize them as an Irish rock band, three of the five members of Young Dubliners are actually American, and this very same ratio reflects in their music. Two scoops of red white and blue American rock, a third of bright green Irish rock, all served on a Celtic waffle cone is exactly what you will receive if you order a “Young Dubliners” at your nearest Cold Stones – and to drag this metaphor even further, their new album “Saints and Sinners” is just as colorful as they explore a range of musical styles in simply twelve songs.
The first track titled “Saint and Sinners” sets the album off to a rocky start, and not in the figurative sense. The up-beat electric guitar riffs accompanied by the background violin that often goes off on its own into tightly coordinated rhythmic progressions, makes this one of the fastest paced songs on the album along-side with “Rosie” and non-lyrical “Saoirse”. However, not all is fast and full of pop, there are great soothing songs like “In the End” and “Caroline” that keep the album acoustically grounded and let’s you experience the more mellow side of singer Keith Roberts‘s voice.
My favorite song would have to be the very harmonic “Backseat Driver” that balances very well between traditional Irish folk and modern pop/rock. And forgive me If I am being stereotypical but every time I hear this song it makes me want to hold a pint of beer and start singing it with my friends, it has that subtle Irish drinking song style every time the chorus plays…. eh maybe I am just an talking crazy.
For those who enjoy Celtic/Irish rock, you will definitely enjoy the Young Dubliners, and for those who doesn’t even have a clue about Celtic music, you should definitely give them a try.

Great video I found on Digg.com, this kid’s beatboxing skills are amazing.

From her solo debut album titled “Sea Sew” comes Irish singer Lisa Hannigan‘s first single “Lille”, a mellow melodic instrumental song that is bound to lower your heart-rate. Her album Sea Sew was released in Ireland on September 2008 and then an American release followed February 2009. You can check Lisa receiving the Colbert Bump when she appeared on the Colbert Report here.

This second song comes from American-born musician Sean Fournier. In his album “Oh My” (available for free download) spreads across many genres including folk, acoustic and pop. The song “Another like you” really stands out as the slow tempo and mellow acoustic in the background enables him to showcase his great signing voice. He is on a quest to spread his music around the world, and judging by the many great songs on his albums, I will definitely join his cause. Quebec Antique is a project by duo Andy Dollerson and Michael Blake. Their Album “The Abbey Tapes” is a mix between Ambient and Electronica with sprinkles of Pop thrown in. If you like this song I highly recommend that you listen to “Right as Rain”, which sounds similar to some of Dntel and Imogen Heap’s slower, more ambient songs. You can listen to their whole album at their virb.com

Today was a great Monday, and these two new experimental songs I came across made it even better. First we start of with a very groovy and odd, synthpop song by the great indie duo Neon Indian. They have a new song out called “Deadbeat Summer” which has been picked up by a lot of the music bloggers recently.

Owen Pallett is a violinist and singer from Canada.
Here is “Men” from The Dodos, a very experimental folk group that use a lot of acoustic instruments on most of their songs. Enjoy!

Victoria Hesketh (shown above), is a British electronica musician known professionally as Little Boots or as a former member of Dead Disco. “Stuck on Repeat” was released march of 2008 to be masterfully remixed by Fake Blood – I recently talked about one of this songs Mars. Make sure you check out Fake Bloods myspace and keep an eye for Little Bloods new album coming up in June 8th titled “hands” Give it time to start, it gets a lot better after the intro. Enjoy the remix!

If I say “Gangstagrass”, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? If you break it down you might probably think:
“Gansta” = rap, hip-hop
“Grass” = plants? Weed? Marijuana?
… Wait, could it be… Blue Grass?
If your thinking process was similar to mine that would have been the order to come up with the right answer. The Album Gangstagrass is an incredible mash-up of hip/hop and the classic banjo and mandolin blue grass genre. Although it seems like a collaborative project, as there are many different talented artists involved in the production of the album, it was producer/song writer and hip/hop mash up artist Rench that made this project possible.
Is it over the top?
Each song is unique and explores different elements of both hip/hop and Blue Grass. “Pistol Packin” is a very hood, fast paste, lyrically driven hip/hop as opposed to the song “Pain” which is more down to earth sentimental and acoustic R&B style song, equally as great. As crazy as Ganstagrass sounds, it always seems grounded and genuine.
My favorite one was actually the first song that I heard from them: “Street Soldier” The hip/hop beat and the mandolin in the background go amazingly well together.
The content/lyrics stay more true to hip/hop, as it contains more explicit language than most blue grass songs. If you want to hear something completely fresh and new, Gangstagrass is the place to start. This genre may not be for you but it is worth giving it a try. The album is available for free at http://gangstagrass.com/
