Say Hi To Your Mom (New name is Say Hi) is a Seattle-based American indie rock group run by Eric Elbogen. Yeah, I’m Love With An Android comes off their Ferocious Mopes, sweet and simple love song that explains how being in love with an Android is not as strange as you might think.

After losing their 23-year-old drummer, John Pike, to a tragic death, Ra Ra Riot could have easily falling apart. As Obscure Sound puts it, no matter how many arguments and fistfights were initiated in the past, it is a fact that many groups tend to form a family-like bond after years and even months of touring and working together. Losing a member could be devastating but the guys from Ra Ra Riot realized the best way to honor a friend is by continuing the journey they had all started. Dying is Fine is a poetic melancholic tune inspired by poet e.e. cummings, to which features chorus, “You know that dying is fine, but maybe / I wouldn’t like death if death were good / not even if death were good.” As painful as it may have been they embraced his passing and composed this track to pay tribute to John.

Out of clouds is a band from Gothenburg, Sweden, that makes indierock with a focus on melodies. With equal parts British pop tradition and Swedish harmonies, personal songs in different moods are created. Since life holds both melancholy and euphoria, it all has to be reflected in the music.

Ok I admit Ratatat has become an extraordinary popular group since their debut album in 2004 AND while I want to keep this post with more obscure music, if we are going to “look back”, ratatat needs all the attention it deserves. A stimulating ride of beats and sounds ratatat is able to appeal to everyones taste. I would describe it as experimental jazzy hip/hop bluesy pop beats but thats already too long to say. Mirando comes of their ‘LP3′ released in 2008.

Cut and dry here is Steregum.com’s Top 10 Most NSFW videos of 2009
1 The Flaming Lips – “Watching The Planets”
2 Matt & Kim – “Lessons Learned”
3 Girls – “Lust For Life” (XXX Edit)
4 Major Lazer – “Pon De Floor”
5 Raekwon – “Pyrex Vision”
6 Yeasayer – “Ambling Alp”
7 Massive Attack – “Paradise Circus”
8 Depeche Mode – “Hole To Feed”
9 Patrick Wolf – “Vulture”
10 Marilyn Manson – “Running To The Edge Of The World”
I was well aware of all theses videos except for one, probably the most hilariously sexual music videos of all time… coming in at their #4 Major Lazer – “Pon De Floor”!! I am completely speechless by its grotesque beauty (if that doesn’t make sense, watch the video and you will know what I mean). Although the video does not contain ANY nudity.. it makes up with a lot of humping, showing you a nice array of examples, many of which are too advanced from the typical Kamasutra reader.
[Caution: Video Below is NSFW = Not safe for work = try not to view it if grandma is in the room ]
The rest are probably too R-rated for the ‘innocent’ eyes of the Ninja lol so check out the original post here
![StereoHeroes StereoHeroes2 [Dirty Electro] My last Dirty Electro song for 2009 = Gtronic Iron Man (StereoHeroes Remix)](http://themusicninja.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/StereoHeroes2.jpg)
It was really in 2009 when I started hitting up a lot of raves and techno/trance clubs that I became an avid junkie of this extremely stretched out clusterfuck of effects that ive come to love as Dirty Electro. Theres something appealing about the chaos and progression of electro techno. This new fully dynamic track from Stereoheroes is completely insane… and if your not of a fan of electronic music, we always got something less crazy.

![2009-music 2009 music2 [Epic Mash Up] Top 25 Pop songs of 2009 into ONE + Rant About Mainstream Music](http://themusicninja.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/2009-music2.jpg)
DJ Earworm came out yet again creating a song mashing the top 25 most popular “pop” songs of this year. Technically, Earworm crafted a wonderfully sounding masterpiece capturing the many popular “mainstream” songs in the last 365 days with seamless flow.
BUUTTTT… I also think this mash-ups points out the obvious truth of mainstream music: Everything sounds the same. With some exceptions not one stands out to far from each other. Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed loved many of these hits AND I validate these artists as talented and passionate people that care about their music, but my argument is more towards how major record labels always go for the same “safe” sound to appeal for a “broader audience”. Their problem lies on the fact that they believe the “broader audience” wont tell the difference between the same sounding songs thrown at them year after year. However, this could not be farther from the truth. There is a reason Indie Music is booming, people have turned off their radios and are using iTunes, music blogs, and other music discovery services as away to escape from the same mainstream sound. Just like going to the movies and giving the director an hour and a half of your time for the sake of experiencing something new, more people too are giving songs a try without knowing what they are getting into. Hopefully you will see a lot more Indie artists getting across to people in 2010.
Am I exaggerating? Is this rant caused by the fact that all these songs I have become tired off are compiled in one song? Perhaps, nonetheless please comment bellow and let me know what you think.

![Vic Chesnutt Vic Chesnutt2 [R.I.P.] Vic Chesnutt](http://themusicninja.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Vic-Chesnutt2.jpg)
An immense loss. Folk-Rock Singer/Songwriter James Victor “Vic” Chesnutt died Christmas Day at the age of 45 from what it appears to be a suicide from an overdose of muscle relaxants. His musical style can be described as a “skewed, refracted version of Americana that is haunting, funny, poignant, and occasionally mystical, usually all at once”.
“An adoptee, Chesnutt was raised in Zebulon, Georgia, where he first started writing songs at the age of 5. At 18, a car accident left him partially paralyzed, though it wasn’t long afterward that he realized he could still play guitar. After his recovery he left Zebulon and moved to Nashville, Tennessee; the poetry he read there (by Stevie Smith, Walt Whitman, Wallace Stevens, W. H. Auden, Stephen Crane, and Emily Dickinson) served to inspire and influence him. Chesnutt stated his atheism since age 13.” – Wikipedia

Nosaj Thing is now, without a doubt, among L.A.’s finest musical modulators. His electronic soundscapes and wild beat tectonics play like vignettes that affect the listener’s mind as deeply as he hits their soul. Nosaj Thing creates nothing less than the sound mastery of beat driven, experimental electronics from a gifted noise constructor. – Last.fm
