With the soft and barely audible words of Suuns’ frontman Ben Shemie, a relentless baseline capable of inflicting paranoia and the ever evolving minimalistic progression of quirky melodies, I can only imagine this being recorded in the corner of a Mental Asylum after everyone has been put to sleep. And yet, I have never felt more at home. “Up Past The Nursery” off the Suuns’ 2010 release Zeroes QC is as warm and playful as it is haunting, and it is this very property that makes it the perfect song to escape to. The Montreal group is currently on tour in North America and is expected to hit Europe early February.
