[Soft Indie Pop] Looking Back at The Rosebuds

How does music like this come out of somewhere like North Carolina? A hauntingly beautiful vocal (sung by The Rosebuds Duo of Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp) is backed up by an equally beautiful guitar riff and a reverb heavy drum kit make this one of the most impressive songs that nobody knows about. The dark tone of ‘Life LIke’ is put together so nicely that it can be put together on repeat. So put it on repeat. Just hope that in the future The Rosebuds get a good marketing team behind them and maybe a good remix or two.

[Albums Review] Four Tet – There Is Love In You

Kieren Hebden’s latest album under the Four Tet moniker is, by a considerably margin, his strongest and most consistently rewarding release to date. Here, the beats are much less rooted in instrumental hip hop, and are more geared towards the dance floor. Instead of using complex or bloated chord changes, Hebden opts for methods practiced by composers like Manuel Göttshing, Wolfgang Voigt or Steve Reich with unchanging harmonic centers, using texture and volume to reveal the limitless potential of the sonic spectrum. Standout track “Plastic People” starts with a Gas-like steady bass drum pulse and adds understated, jazzy comps—hand claps, rim knocks, and up-beat pulsing shakers. These elements are methodically added to, and subtracted from the beat, maintaining a forward motion in a way that’s hardly noticeable but endlessly preservative of the track’s substructure. This will be a quick one. There was really only one noteworthy song on last nights episode Chuck Vs The American Hero. The music that was playing when chuck was professing his heart to Sarah is titled Down River by the famous rock/post-punk revival band The Temper Trap of their Conditions albums (To many regards as being in the top 10 albums to come out in 2009). [NEW VIDEO+Awesomeness] MGMT – Flash Delirium

MGMT, a Brooklyn based duo whose dont require an introduction, have recently unleased an very peculiar and slightly more creepy video than what we are used to seeing (I think they have out done Kids). This video compliments MGMT’s Flash Delirium very well but I can’t really say I am a big fan of the song. Their next album, Congratulations, is due to be released on April 13, 2010. The album was leaked onto the web a couple of days back. Because of this, the band put all of the songs available as streams from the official MGMT website.

Although their career lasted only a few short years and the sum total of their recorded output fits comfortably on a single disc, Black Tambourine are one of the most important, not to mention best, bands to have come out of Washington D.C.’s independent music scene in the 1990s. Where twee pop’s original appeal came from a sense of shambling vulnerability, Black Tambourine created a sound as threatening and aggressive as it was accessible. With the release of Black Tambourine, Slumberland Records updates their 1999 compilation of the group’s material, adding six new tracks including two demos, two covers and two unreleased originals. The group’s debut single Drive It Like You Stole it is a dynamic rollercoaster of synthesize industrial beats that at times can almost be confused with Ratatat (in a fresh and exciting way good way). The Glitch Mob is out to rob you of your senses and convert any non-glitch fan into a believer.
