This is a true meeting of talent. American hip-hop prodigy Tyga has collaborated with British soul princess Adele on ‘Reminded’, and what a triumph it is. Tyga’s sharp-shooting and witty lyrics are a sharp contrast to Adele’s heartfelt warbling and make ‘Reminded’ really pack a punch that will astound and enchant fans and critics alike. ‘Reminded (ft Adele)’ is featured on Tyga’s forthcoming ‘Black Thoughts 2′ mixtape.

Nick van de Wall, also known as his Electro House DJ/ Producer name “Afrojack“, has soared to the top charts in the year 2010; for 2011, Afrojack presents us with a definite club-banger. While Afrojack is indeed “Doing it Right”, he isn’t doing anything new. The signature “bleep” style drop is present in every one of Afrojack’s tracks and comes as no surprise in “Doing it Right”. What is surprising, however, was the truly mesmerizing instrumental build-up, with an extremely cathy melody. The “bleep style” is starting to be overdone by Afrojack, but you can’t help but smile when Afrojack combines the two dominant melodies into one head-smashing final drop. An enjoyable addition to Afrojack’s list of productions, but anyone waiting for something new from Afrojack will have to wait just a little longer.

Fun remix off Mad Decent‘s music blog, with DJ Sega’s funky spin on the beloved theme song of the popular iPhone App Angry Birds. Was I expecting more? Sure it would be nice to hear a crazy electro banger incorporating some of the loops and sound effects but this track still pretty hilarious. What you think?

The quirky named ‘Moombathon’ genre is quickly becoming synonymous with sounds of Dillon Francis. Essentially it’s the mix up between Dutch house and reggaeton, and the mastery of such a sound earns Dillon Francis a second consecutive appearence in the Best of Beatport Charts. This track was produced by Diplo and is sprinkled with a vocal topping from Maluca. Buy on Beatport

Donald Glaude and Revolvr have taken this Scooter & Lavelle track and added some banging polytechnic glory to it. Reminisant of the break beat sounds usually associated with the likes of Wolfgang Gartner and Deadmu5, the boys have created a raging tune here, helped along by Sue Cho‘s (from Porter Robinson’s “Hello”) catchy vocals. Released on the Bomb Strikes label, this track actually showed its cheeky face in 2010 but has gradually climbed the Beatport charts and is definitely one to get your grove on down to. Want to know what happens if you shove dubstep through a food blender – then let Frederick Anthony Sargolini’s , aka FS, show you! Mashing together dubstep, electro, glitch and anything else he can get his hands on – American born FS rips open the dubstep spectrum and has created some utter filth along the way. Buy on Beatport
Multi-talented bright young thing Dan Glover, AKA Childish Gambino, really has taken 2011 and put his mark on it. With his ‘Freaks and Geeks’ EP, he created some of the finest rhymes seen in rap in a long time, and his work has spawned so many excellent remixes. Take for example, UK up-and-comer Star Slinger’s reworking of ‘Freaks and Geeks’. Star Slinger has made the track more club-friendly by whacking some dark beats on top of Glover’s high-octane lyrics, making this a definite winner for Friday nights out on the town.

Seems that our brains build associations with music. You hear one thing, and expect something to follow. You hear Ke$ha’s voice, and expect nausea. You hear soft buildups in a hip hop remix song, and expect a dubstep beat. Well, it’s always nice when someone does just the opposite.
When Sound Remedy’s remix opens up, I couldn’t help but think – this is going to be a wicked build up for a filthy dubstep song. Then a little mini break came. No beat. No wobble. Huh. More buildup. Okay, the beat will drop in soon – can’t wait. The beat never comes, but what follows can only be described as sheer auditory pleasure. A few minutes of blissful synth and Skylar Grey’s wavering vocals.
Sound Remedy has thrown up some great remixes (check out his James Blake track), and while this won’t get people moving on the dance floor, it was a welcome change of pace from what we’re used to.

British rock legends Radiohead have been an influential force in music for over 20 years. Now they’ve turned their attentions to the glamorous world of publishing, and today have released ‘The Universal Sigh’, a ‘newspaper’ that centres on culture. ‘The Universal Sigh’ features art, poetry and short stories as chosen and curated by the band, and is available in select major cities all over the world. And if that wasn’t enough, Radiohead are celebrating Record Store Day (April 16), and they’re doing it in style. A UK-exclusive 12″ single will be released, containing two new songs, and is limited to only 2000 copies.

YES! YES and YES! We’ve been waiting for this one to drop since we covered the teaser video here and it’s finally out on Beatport. One of our favourite duo’s – Dada Life must have a mighty stack of synths and “phat” bass processer units in their studio, as the sound on each new track they make seems to get bigger and bigger. This one being no exception.
