The first thing you need to know about Alex Clare is that he has an outstanding voice, full of raw passion and soul. The second thing about this British talent is that he’s not just happy with sticking to one genre. Oh, no. From his intense piano-led cover of Etta James’ ‘Damn Your Eyes’, to the grinding beats of ‘Too Close’, Clare likes to mix things up and keep his audience ravenous for more. Debut album ‘Lateness Of The Hour’ is out now and is a must-have.
Brooklyn duo Cultfever are still relatively unknown, but the blogosphere is picking up on their gorgeous brand of dreamy electro-pop. Vocalist Tamara Jafar’s soft vocals glide over J. Peter Durniak’s synthy experimentalism on ‘Knewyouwell’, creating something of a delirious high for the listener. A definite one-to-watch, Cultfever’s self-titled debut album will be released on November 1.

Will definitely have to agree with indieshuffle, while some may have anticipated this track, for me it came out of the blue. Just two weeks after Florence + the Machine announced The Weeknd’s remix of her second single “Shake It Out”, Zane Lowe debuted the track on his Radio 1 Show. The Weeknd lend their spacy and gloomy style, making this version sound much darker than the original.
“Shake It Out” will be available on iTunes Oct. 2 and Florence and The Machine sophomore album ‘Ceremonials’ will drop on Halloween.

I know I know, you are probably saying, MUSIC NINJA stop posting so many of these “ok” remixes of Big Jet Plane. Truth is, Angus and Julia Stone’ Big Jet Plane is probably in my top favorite tracks of all time and I just can’t help myself. There have been a couple other producers that have taken this classic into the realm of dance, but not many have been able to reproduce the same feel of the original with added baseline. Stern*’ disco remix is able to subtly enhance the song without being a distraction. Enjoy.

Though some of Skrillex‘ work does sound like just another remix of his own originals, Skrillex has once again broken through to the video game side to produce a track for the soundtrack of EA Games latest frirst-person shooter ‘Syndicate’. The game looks like a combination of Fear and Max Payne and well, that is not a bad combination to rip off.
I hate to give the game any more publicity but any producer that makes sure you are rocking to some of the best dubstep producer while blowing the heads of bad guys deserves some kudos. Check out the trailer for the game Syndicate above.

Australian magic is hitting The Music Ninja once again, this time with Yasumo – a funk/afrobeat production with the right doses of pop and hip hop. There’s not a whole lot of info out there about these guys, but you can peruse their sick Soundcloud collection. “Can’t Stop” sounds a marriage between East Coast dance pop and underground party hip hop, a sound these guys love to dabble in when they aren’t funkifying their world music influences.

A few weeks ago we posted a single by Colorado Producer Paul Basic. Ever since we heard that track, we’ve been waiting for the rest of the EP to drop. Well yesterday was that day, and The Mirror is officially here for us to enjoy.
If you didn’t already know, Paul is signed to Pretty Light’s label, Pretty Lights Music. When you listen through his tracks, you can definitely get a feel of his influences. A lot of his tracks are rooted heavily in really old time, classic samples. This sound give a truly authentic east coast hip hop feel. But the way Paul integrates jagged synth, and gritty beats, really makes the songs sound current and downright badass.
The songs below exemplify Paul’s talent. You can listen to these tracks, and bob your head at your desk all day long. They each have a unique sound to them, and achieve that without even having any lyrics. No Chorus. No Freestyle. No auto tune Envelope Follower. Just really stellar production.
If you dig Paul’s music, head over to Pretty Lights Music page, where you can download it for free.

In just a couple of days, Red Bull Music Academy will debut the worlds first festival in the sky ‘Revolution In Sound’ by taking over to the iconic EDF Energy London Eye for one night only massive event. Red Bull Music Academy programmes 30 capsules with influential producers, DJs and live acts.
With an amazing line-up, it is even more impressive the inclusions of pretty massive electronic acts, namely dubstep trailblazers Skream and Benga with Sgt.
