Labelled an ‘Hour of Power’, German duo Dumme Jungs have slammed together some of my absolute favourite tracks of 2011 for a mix especially made for the great legendary guys over at Chemical Jump. We first featured the Dumme Jungs back in March 2011 with their release of Daylight and with every release and mix they make they’re quickly becoming one of my favourites in the electro scene.

With electronica music being as large as it is right now, it’s not a surprise when you see someone switch from another genre of music to start producing EDM. Skrillex is probably the most famous example, but there’s also been Celldweller, and Atrasolis as well.
Atrasolis started off in the music business by playing in post-hardcore bands. After his band broke up, he started composing on his own, including electro and dubstep tracks. While we haven’t checked out much of his work, we really dug this track in particular. Take note of the frenetic synths and heavy bass which slice up Pyro Fighter’s electro-pop song..

Now who is going to make a dubstep version of this?
Stereogum has been known for giving us the rundown on the most NSFW videos of every year, and 2011 was no exception. While we agree with more of their list (shown here) we want to point out two memorable videos that if we were to sort them based on AWESOME FACTOR they would rank to the very top.
When a director presents nudity or extreme violence on a music video, it is important to incorporate these NSFW scenes with an artistic or valuable context to the story being narrated. A lot of indie bands favor the more mysterious path, creating dark and complex imagery that can go along with their music. It is a much poetic attempt that usually succeeds but it does border-line into the boring. Here are two of the most memorable and extremely captivating videos from 2011.

An absolute must listen and one of the chillest hip/hop song I have come across in a while. We featured Sol back in October when he released ‘So Damn High’ and now we have just the perfect song to play us out. “Stage Dive” is the kind of song that feels organic and underground and yet I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it on the radio.
