[NYC Event Preview] Webster Hall Presents GOTHAM w/ AC Slater, Jack Beats, Alex English, Dischetto, & TJANI

Calling all NYC party people. In case you haven’t heard the news already, NYC’s historic venue Webster Hall recently introduced their newest weekly event GOTHAM. The party takes place every Saturday in the grand ballroom of Webster Hall where the club immediately takes on a dark, heated, and taboo atmosphere. You’ll find yourselves feeling as if you’ve just entered DC Comic’s Gotham City as acrobats and dancers take their positions all around the dance floor (and ceiling).

The real ambience is set by long time Webster Hall resident Alex English in addition to Gotham residents Dischetto and TJANI as they spin deep and underground techno selections. If this isn’t convincing enough to experience the party for yourself, maybe this Saturday’s lineup will be. On November 26th, Webster Hall invites the founder of Night Bass himself, AC Slater along with fellow bass aficionado Jack Beats to take the stage making this a night you don’t want to miss.

[House] AC Slater & Anna Lunoe – “All Night” (Cover of Power Trip by J. Cole)

One of the hottest songs over the radio this summer has just gotten a tune up at the music store. J. Cole’s “Power Trip” is a sexy and seductive songs that has been playing for a few months now. But today, producer AC Slater and the very talented vocalist Anna Lunoe, teamed up to do their own version of the song, calling it “All Night”. This tantalizing cover captures the sex appeal that is in the original song while adding an electronic feel into the mix. Slater does a great job with the up and dancing beats while Lunoe’s sweet yet seductive voice carefully plays out the lyrics, not to mention they both co-produced this piece. This song comes along with the announcement of Lunoe’s North American tour this fall supporting none other than The Weeknd. One this is for sure, whatever song this Australian beauty lends her voice to will leave any listener wanting more.

Gemmy – Lakota (AC Slater Remix)

I’ll always remember the 2nd show I went to in 2009. It was Hard Summer, the last year they hosted it at The Forum. Before the Fire Marshals and LAPD came to tear gas the crowds that were trying to make their way into the overbooked venue, I got a chance to see a few of the artists play their set. One of them was AC Slater, and man, was his set sick.

And so is this new remix. “Lakota,” by Gemmy, has been turned into a big bassy breakbeat served for breakfast. There’s a quality to AC Slater’s music that remains so undeniably authentic; he holds true to his signature styles. His transitions from arpeggiated basslines to the stabby fifths to the insanely dirty drop…this song just makes my extremities want to fly and flail all over the place, in the most wonderful way possible. Check this track out, and you’ll see what I mean.

This track will be released by Roska Kicks & Snares LTD on 7/30/2012

But in the meantime, listen here.

Brooklyn native AC Slater perfectly balanced the hip hop swagger of the original while switching it up into proper glitch hop form with some gangster synth work. Be sure to grab the download below and look out for AC Slater this festival season. As for Drake, you’all know the name!

[Electro] Look at Me Now (AC Slater Remix)

With such an amazing original, there’s no wonder there’s so many remixes out there, but this one from Brooklyn based AC Slater adds a really fresh off beat angle to the original. Slater states Hip-Hop is one of his main influences and going through his SoundCloud you can really see elements of the genre creep into both his remixes and his originals. The highlight of this track will always be hearing the legendary Busta Ryhmes do ‘his thang‘ and AC Slater’s beat make the rappers voice pop out even more.
