Wednesday Workout Playlist [Vol. 2]

Good afternoon Ninjas! We know the work week, especially the mornings, is always challenging considering we are supposed to find the motivation to get up and get going while we aren’t even close to ready to sacrifice our beds. That’s exactly why we are bringing you another round of invigorating music through our Wednesday workout playlist. [Trap] Baauer – Kung Fu ft. Pusha T & Future (KRNE Remix)

Baauer
Kung Fu ft. Pusha T & Future (KRNE Remix)

I’ve been interested in following Baauer‘s rise to fame, beginning with the infamous, “Harlem shake.” In multiple interviews and features, he’s attempted to separate himself from the big hit and prove to everyone that he is an exceptional producer outside of the viral jam we know and love. And I think he’s done a good job.

This remix continues the trend as Baauer releases quality new music and receives solid support from talented artists. It’s an official remix of his song “Kung Fu” by the group KRNE. I’ve been following both of these guys for a long time and needless to say, it’s a good collaboration. If you’re a fan of trap music you won’t want to miss out on this one. So I highly recommend you tune in and get down.

[NEW] Tory Lanez x WeDidIt – Cruel Intentions EP

After weeks of eager anticipation, we finally have our hands on the latest project from Tory Lanez, as he teams up with the WeDidIt Collective for this brand new 5 track EP. As expected, most of the production is handled by heavyweights from the WeDidIt roster, including Shlohmo, RL Grime and D33J along with additional production from Baauer and frequent collaborator Play Picasso, who Tory once told us was his 40. At this point, we feel like we’ve said just about everything we can about Tory’s tremendous talent, but it still amazes us to see how much growth he’s shown in just the past couple of years. Cruel Intentions serves as an incredibly polished follow-up to last year’s Lost Cause mixtape, building on the same moody aesthetic that the Toronto native has established in much of his previous work. Tory’s ability to alternate seamlessly between rapping and singing has almost become second nature at this point, so it should be no surprise that he’s basically got the formula down to a science on Cruel Intentions.

Promises (feat. Fetty Wap & Dubbel Dutch) #songsfromscratch

The Songs from Scratch series, a joint effort between Yours Truly and Adidas, has continually delivered the most memorable and delightfully unexpected collaborations in music outdoing themselves with each installment. Fresh off ninja favorite “Dimelo,” the latest offering brings together Fetty Wap, the emcee behind viral hit “Trap Queen,” and pioneering electronic trap producers Baauer and Dubbel Dutch for yet another anthem with “Promises.” Combining playful melodies with hard-hitting 808s and a horn-driven breakdown, the production couldn’t match Fetty Wap’s cadence any better as he promises his friends and family that he’s going to succeed. The result is downright addicting and makes for the perfect reflection of current trends all the while being unique, varied and musically impressive. Baauer & RL Grime – Infinite Daps [FREE DL]

Baauer & RL Grime
Infinite Daps

RL Grime and Baauer just finished their tour with Ryan Hemsworth and Jim Stack-E, so they decided to give out this massive collab for free. I had the honor of hearing this live on Halloween at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco, and it was nothing short of amazing. Now everyone gets to enjoy it for FREE, and I’m sure you’ll hear in this many A-List artist sets in the near future. The tune itself isn’t exactly what you would expect from these two, but none the less,  it’s a high octane 808 banger. Cheers.
