[Chill] Bob Marley – Waiting In Vain (RÆVE Feat. JahSon Cover)

Bob Marley
Waiting In Vain (RÆVE Ft. JahSon Cover)

Every blogger worth his salt has heard at least four hundred Bob Marley covers or remixes in their day. As you can see, it’s very easy for the quality ones to get lost in the mix. And even if they are good, they usually aren’t too creative. However, RÆVE & JahSon are here to flip the script with their own interpretation of “Waiting In Vain”. JahSon lays down an incredible cover of the Marley classic, while RÆVE does the rest with his own blend of tropical sounds and house beatwork. As the winter months draw close, expect the Ninja team to keep this one in heavy rotation.

Sunday Night Soul [Vol. 16]

Good evening ninjas. It’s the first weekend of March, which means spring is right around the corner (although the snow outside my window would seem to indicate otherwise). Tonight also happens to be Oscars night, and since your favorite movie/actor/composer didn’t win that award you so desperately wanted them to (sorry again, Leo. There’s always next time), you’ll have to begin the healing/venting process somewhere (probably through Twitter). Well, we’ve  got the soundtrack for both transitions right here, with another excellent edition of Sunday Night Soul. [Happy 420] A Playlist Of Songs To Get Lifted To

Towlie

Here at The Music Ninja, we acknowledge that the relationship between music and marijuana go hand in hand…and we are pretty sure that a good number of our regular visitors probably puff the magic dragon themselves. Being this site’s resident toker, I thought I’d share with you a few of my all time favorite songs to get lifted to on this 4/20.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – The Weed Song

’Bone Thugs
N

This song is such a staple and reminds me of when I first started getting lifted in college. Bone Thugs really capture the essence of being high with a dreamy and atmospheric sound making this song so easy to repeat over and over.

DJ Quik – Bombudd II

’Bombudd II.mp3′

Not the typical DJ Quik song. Usually he gives us a nice danceable hip hop beat, but this reggae driven track sets such a great mood when you’re lifted. Quik talks about all the things he feels when he smokes be it paranoid, overjoyed, becoming aware or not even feeling a thing, all accompanied with the sounds of bong rips in the background.

Mayer Hawthorne – Green Eyed Love

’12 Green Eyed Love.mp3′

I love Mayer Hawthorne for a lot of reasons. His polished vintage sound is certainly one of them, but we both seem to have the same admiration with what he describes as his green-eyed love. Enjoy watching the clouds from above on this track.

Bob Marley & The Wailers – Easy Skanking

’08 Easy Skanking.mp3′

And finally, what 4/20 playlist would be complete without some Bob Marley. Such a joyous track…plus you really can’t get more blatant in a song than saying “excuse me while I light my spliff, good God I’ve got to take a lift.”

Happy toking everybody. Enjoy burning one down this afternoon listening to these songs. As always, be safe and responsible.
