The Trap Dojo #45

Hey Ninjas, today’s dojo is divided into two sections. First off we have some sonic redbull to get you going in the morning and get you through the day. DMNDZ kick things off with a huge remix of Knife Party‘s “Power Glove” that is packing some serious bass. Party Favor plugged a tuba into a subwoofer for this brass and bass banger. Run the Jewels, released a new self-titled EP on Fools Gold Records that has some of the sharpest lyrics and heaviest beats this season. Download all ten tracks hereDancefloor Junkies will have you “Ready 4 Action” with their dark “Black Skinhead” remix. A couple electro-trap pop remixes of J. Cole and Robin Thicke are followed by some heavy moombah from Caligula and some funky beats from CRNKN and LAZERDISK PARTY SEX. Some aggressive grime and thuggin remixes with more trunk shaking bass and sharp lyrics from some sharp MCs will get you over that last hump of the morning.

Hit play on the second section as you get ready to go home for the day and need chill out on your drive home. Tigerblood really cools things off with his entry to the Shackles “Let You Know” remix contest on Trapdoor. Vancouver homies Krusha and Sleepy Tom take some classic jungle sounds and infuse it with some soothing basslines. There is no time I like Rihanna better than when her lyrics are being used for some smooth chilled out patio jams, and young producer GRAVIS adds some cool G-Easy verses to a chill Aylen re-fix. Buzz Trillington continues the chill mashup wave before Free N Losh bring the fire on a couple amazing throwback jams. Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra are among the many amazing remix choices for their new EP “The Best Is Yet To Come” Hucci and Huglife, the latter of whom we haven’t seen in a minute since a feud with DJ Sliink forced him to change his name, bring some solid bedroom vibes. 222 Oceans finish off the list with one of the most experimental Yeezus remixes yet.

The Trap Dojo #43

Before whats sure to be several weeks of Yeezus remixes flooding the dojo, I just had to feature the original with the heaviest trap beat, “Blood on the Leaves”. Featuring beautiful, haunting samples of Nina Simone‘s cover of Billie Holiday‘s “Strange Fruit,” a massive beat from TNGHT‘s “R U Ready” heartbroken autotuned vocals and hard hitting stadium rap, this song encapsulates virtually all Kanye eras and is easily on of the highlights of the album. Next up is Jackal who we have been seeing alot more of lately as his refined trap beats are starting to blow up, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Cop his “Trick/Machine” EP at beatport. The duo of Buzz Trillington and Shooter McNappin always bring the heat on their own, but when they come together its nothing less than an out of control wildfire, with their mashup of UZ’s Trap Shit and The Neptunes. Dis I mention Yeezus remixes? DMNDZ urn it up on the sexy “I’m In It” and tear it back down again. They perfectly rearrange the vocals over a horn, snare and chime heavy trap beat and made it (Dare I say?) a better track than the original. Run the Jewels is the duo of El-P and KillerMike and together have been releasing some killer Hip Hop through Fools Gold Records. Team Bayside High, always keeping it interesting with their remix choices have first a remix of the classic Isley Brother‘s tune “Shout” that you’ll definitely have to turn a little bit louder now. Next is a heavy remix of Chief Keef‘s “Hate Being Sober” with a huge dubby bassline. Alex Young takes on the task of remixing Daft Punk‘s instrumental for Kanye’s “Black Skinhead” and while its a great instrumental track, i found it lacking more of Ye’s lyrics either in verses or hooks. The next bunch are all heavy trunk bangers with some filthy bass lines and all the real trap shit you need to get through another week along with a couple midnight bedroom jams at the end.

We’re kicking off this weeks Trap Dojo in a hard way with the newest track from trap music prodigy Alex Young, an original titled “Mastermind”. Don’t let the emotional electro build-up fool you, when this one drops, nothing will stop you from banging your head and attempting to shuffle, no matter where you are. Vinnie Maniscalco puts a fresh spin on an old favorite this week, remixing The Champs classic tune “Tequila”. With heavy bass and clever drum work, he flips the familiar sax tune on its head. Ookay and Pyramid Juke come together for a huge collaboration with this minimal track “Yen”, hope you have your subs turned up for this one. [MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo: Volume #11

Whether you have suffered from Sandy’s wrath, or simply trying to get through another week of work, begging for the weekend to get here sooner, The Trap Dojo is coming through every Tuesday to try and brighten up your week with the biggest and best trap tunes we can find. Because Halloween is coming up tomorrow, this week starts with a couple tracks perfect to get you in the mood. Bro Safari teams up with none other than DJ Craze who scratches the hell out of this track, while ETC!ETC! gives the theme song from Child’s Play a very creepy trap flip. If you’re familiar with The Trap Dojo, then you must be familiar with Ookay who has been a regular figure from the start. This week he partners with the Japanese homies Watapachi to remix the legendary FatBoy Slim‘s “Star 69” into an absolute banger. LOUDPVCK released a new EP this week and this track, “Dolly Parton” is probably my favorite, with a catchy vocal hook, and deep drums and jungle flair. KTheory takes a hint from trapstyle gods Flosstradamus and samples himself some hardstyle and absolutely destroys this track. If absolutely filthy lyrics are your thing, Danny Brown‘s “Witit” will be sure not to disappoint. Brown does exactly what he does best and spits lyrics so nasty they could make even a hooker blush. While this song is a bit older, he just released a video for it this week, so be sure to check it out. With trap music taking over the scene, moombahton has not been getting the press it deserves lately, so to fix that Kaptain brings us a sick moombah track, which flips into some grimey trap later on. If Grandtheft really is as cocky as this track suggests, it’s probably well deserved after kicking out this banger, immediately after working with Diplo on the remix of “Sweet Nothing” by Calvin Harris last week. I usually try and finish of the Dojo with an example of the softer side of Trap and Ookay hits the mark this week with a melodic and soothing remix of “Clarity” by Zedd. While not quite as chill as other similar tracks, this one is filled with soulful emotion, and easily earns the final spot on this list.

As usual, you can pick up all 20 free tracks from this week in the Zip.

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo: Volume #7

The Trap Dojo is here once again to take over the world, infusing everything we can with 808s and snares. Forget about cowbells, we need more gunshots.

Oh Snap!! hits us first with “Watup Bitch” an absolute club banger that could make any dance floor go crazy, love the 90’s vibe coming off Flygirls vocals. No word on when this one is coming out though. “Flex” by Solice starts off with a dance beat to keep those feet moving but comes out of nowhere (just like Solace did) with a huge haunting bass drop. CRNKN has been on such a massive roll lately and brings us two new tracks this week. Both are simply oozing with gangster swag and filled to the brim with gunshots and heavy beats and hooks. Dupstep pioneer Caspa remixed this Ludacris track way back in 2010. It didn’t get much attention or an official release then, but was just put back up for free on his Soundcloud this week. Up next are a couple sounds by OG Status, definitely a group to keep an eye on. The rest of the list is hit after hit, with ETC!ETC!, Brillz, TrapZillas and Big Chocolate  all going hard. Godmode get dark with their own brand of “Satanic Trap,” and Baauer shows his incredible diversity and ability to produce hype anthems as well as tracks like this remix of Brick + Mortar.

As usual, we’ve been nice enough to do all the work for you and give you all the free tracks RIGHT HERE.
