[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo: Volume #9

It’s Tuesday, so you know what that means. It’s time for The Trap Dojo to take over your eardrums, so grab a cup of lean, pop in that gold grill and get ready to trap out. Flosstradamus kicks off this week in a huge way, with this track from their new XO 2 EP released this week. While there was a little bit of controversy surrounding them in the first XO EP because they weren’t crediting the artists they were remixing, they remedied the situation on this one. If you still haven’t picked up the EPs, head over to x.flosstradamus.com and tweet about it to get it for free. Next, Ookay, who is definitely a regular figure here at The Dojo, brings us two tracks. The first is an original featuring Gucci Mane and the other, a collaboration with Snails. Both songs hit hard and are at critical swag levels. Luminox tries his hand at remixing Major Lazer’s “Original Don” and while you might not expect any remix to surpass Flosstradamus’ mix, Luminox does no wrong here and gives the song a new flair. DJ Slink has been giving us plenty of really chill tracks lately, and doesn’t disappoint this week, with his remix of The Shins “New Slang” finishing off the list, but also remixing “Clique” into an instant Slink banger. Next up, Zombass brings some extra creepy bass to get you ready for Halloween. Udachi hits us with some awesome spacetrap vibes of his new EP Space Travel Starter Kit you can pick up free right hereWVTVPVCHI and Skrubz were thinking alike this week, both releasing tracks called “Phat Bass”. Who do you think did it better? The next tracks are all guaranteed floor shakers, so turn up the subs and enjoy.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the last few volumes of The Trap Dojo and be sure to get all this weeks free tracks  here.

[Electro House] Zedd ft. Matthew Koma – Spectrum (Congorock Remix)

The progressive house anthem that Zedd laid out for the world to hear recently is just more proof of why he is one of the true rising producers right now. Upon hearing this song, though, the Los Angeles producer Congorock just decided it didn’t have enough debauchery going on, so Rocco Rampino, the man behind Congorock, threw in a little dash of his typical in-your-face flair. I say a little dash because he did an amazing job of just complimenting the track on this remix — not wreaking total havoc, but still giving the listener a fine amount of world rocking.

Saturating every synth he could get his hands on, this song takes on a very satisfying amount of raw electro beef. Compared to his most recent releases, “Agarta” and “Ivory”, which we have shown you on this site, this “Spectrum” remix shows Congorock taking a different approach than one would come to expect. While he hasn’t smashed any speakers in the making of this rework, it hardly means his signature power and energy have been left on his computer for the next project. It’ll still get you uncontrollably breaking out your dance moves. Snag the whole Spectrum EP, featuring this remix and others by Monsta, A-Trak and more, off Beatport here.

[Electro] Mortal Kombat OST feat. Skrillex & Congorock

JFK from MSTRKRFT and Death From Above 1979 has been busy at work. Not only has he been working on the new MSTRKFT album and touring with DFA, he’s also been the Exectuive Producer for the new Mortal Kombat game charecter themes. The game is getting a lot of hype and is set for a huge launch by Warner Brothers on the 18th April. The official themes soundtrack features an all star line up from the likes of JFK, Congorock, Felix Cartal and Run DMT.

Hector Sanchez, the producer from NetherRealm Studios said that Mortal Kombat has “had the great honor of being a vehicle to introduce new music genres to its fans”. This couldn’t be more true when a good friend of mine who’s a uuuber hardcore gamer and who only ever listens to indie rock music, excitedly announced last week his new passion for all things dirty electro since playing the demo & watching the trailers. Something I’d never thought I’d hear him say!

Here’s 2 of the tracks recommended (and we’d agree!) by Joesph from Nashville Nights that should give you a a feel for how the soundtrack feels.

25141_BD_reptile_color_122_64lo-e1302201565353 Skrillex – Reptile’s Theme

’Skrillex – Reptiles Theme’

This theme is just utter filth. Dropped by Skrillex at his Ultra set, we were anxious to get our hands on this beast. So much bass, so much filth – this is what Los Angeles boy Skrillex does best. Hit the play button and crank your speakers… it’ll be worth it.

Congorock – Liu Kang Theme.mp3

’Congorock – Liu Kang Theme’

Congorocks gained notoriety with his track Babylon and has kept a really consistant style across all his new tracks. This one is being released on the Teenage Riot Records and here’s Congorock had to say about his track. “So proud of this… I went for something more atmospheric and less clubby on this, still it feels like a dream coming true being part of this.”
