[House] Lane 8 – With Me

Lane 8
With Me

Last time we covered the work of Daniel Goldstein, your ninja team was in the building as he delivered a previously-unreleased track “Midnight” during his 12:00 New Year’s set at Snowglobe. Despite the lack of coverage recently, make no mistake Lane 8 has been busy churning out contemporary hits with regularity. Over the past few months our favorite French Express / Anjunadeep collaborator has released a dual EP release in Crush/Divina, a summer mixtape, and a long awaited remix of deadmau5’s all-time classic “Strobe”. This week, he’s given us two surprises: a new release as well as details regarding a nationwide winter tour.

’Music Ninja Radio #11 – Treasure Island Preview’

Welcome back, October.

Festival season has officially wound down to a close and we Californians are bundling up for another frigid winter – which may eventually dip into the 50s (gasp!).

Music fans near and far look toward cloudy skies and feel a deep nostalgia for carefree summer days spent romping through fairgrounds from Detroit to San Diego to Washington to Chicago and even here in San Francisco. Fortunately, there is one last hurrah every year to hold us over: Treasure Island Music Festival.

[Electronic] Deadmau5 – Strobe (Prince Fox 15k Private Stock Edit Pack)

Deadmau5
Strobe (Prince Fox 15k Private Stock Edit Pack)

There are a few certainties in this crazy trip we call life: death, taxes, and that Prince Fox is the future of electronic music. Now to us, “Strobe” is one of the most sacred compositions ever constructed; any remix or mashup is ungodly yet we still see hundreds being released each year. I’d say the only reason I even gave this one a look is because it was done by Prince Fox so I trust the quality, and quality it is. You may think you’ve heard Strobe every which way: progressive house, dubstep, nightcore, any genre under the sun. And even if there are several future bass remixes out in the market, none can come close to Fox’s effort. What this NYC producer has done is recreate one of the most gorgeous melodies to ever grace our beloved world and add even more to it. Don’t think of this as a deadmau5 remix, think of it as what Joel could have accomplished when he first created this track five years ago.

[Progressive] Deadmau5 – All I Have/All I Had

It’s not our job to read into the recent onslaught of releases from Deadmau5. You’ll never see us post the “Top 10 pictures of Deadmau5 and Kat,” but you will see us dive headfirst into his music though. Even though his tracks will get ample blog coverage, our long and loving adoration of his music can’t prevent us from jumping on the bandwagon.

With a EDM community obsessed with “drop culture” as we just now dubbed it, it’s overwhelming refreshing to hear Deadmau5 do what he does best: create rich melody driven music. In “All I Have” and “All I Had” we’re once again brought back to what we first came to love about his music. The depth in sound scape is absolutely overwhelming. They’re carefully orchestrated and mapped together, creating a listening experience that can truly take you away from whatever it is that you’re doing.

We don’t know what Mau5 is going through personally, and it’s not our spot to speculate. We’ve all been there before, and we have to imagine that it’s even more painful when the entire blogosphere is talking it up. So instead of guessing, we’ll just press play, sit back, and enjoy the tunes that he’s been dropping as of late.
