Wednesday Workout Playlist [Vol. 7]

As these hot, hot temperatures finally begin to let up a bit, at least for now, we aren’t hesitating to take advantage of the beautiful days by spending them by the water. As most of us know, there is almost nothing more satisfying than sprawling out on the sand, soaking in the sun and feeling that reoccurring cool breeze on your skin. The only thing that can possibly enhance this experience is some great music playing in the background. That’s why this week we conjured up a selection of tunes to both relax and get energized to.

[Electronic] Chimes – Pieces

Chimes
Pieces

There are few moments more satisfying than discovering a new artist or collaboration. Today, we have an exciting EDM group out of London who goes by the moniker of Chimes.

Chimes, a new partnership between British producer Draper and vocalist Paul Aiden, is the latest summer project sure to garner widespread acclaim by EDM fans. Their newest single, “Pieces” is unrelenting excitement in the form of sound.

Waves of percussions and synths set over sultry verses are a few of the ingredients that go into giving this tune an infectious quality. The phrase “song of the summer” is a timeworn cliche, often overstated and inapplicable to the song it references. With that being said, “Pieces” has the potential to become a crowd favorite if it is added to the rotation of other touring producers as festival season continues to gain momentum.

Check out “Pieces” above, and keep an eye out for what else they have in store for the music community on Soundcloud.

[Liquid Step] Ellie Goulding – Hanging On (Draper Remix)

Liquid Step, WTF is that? Well just listen and you’ll see, but it’s pretty much Love Step or Chill Step, but in Liquid form of course. Draper absolutely murders this ultra sexy remix of Ellie Goulding‘s indie anthem “Hanging On”. Adding some subtle but still very impressive wobbles that enhance this melodic track in all the right ways. This track wouldn’t be complete without some epic vocal work, and it features some flawless splicing at all the right times. This a collab I could only dream about until now, so all we need is for Adventure Club to remix this track and then my life will officially be complete. Cheers.

[New] A*M*E – Find A Boy (Draper Remix)

20 year old up and coming producer Draper released a new track on his soundcloud yesterday, a remix of “Find a Boy” by AME. Before I heard this track, I honestly hadn’t heard of Draper before. But now that I have, I can say that this kid is dope. At the forefront of this sub genre of dubstep called liquidstep, which includes artists such as Diplo and Jakwob, Draper manages to blend this genre fluidly (pardon the puns) with hip hop. Each layer of this track manages to harmonize lithely with the next, bringing a completely new level of melody. If you enjoy Dillon Francis, this artist might just be right up your ally. Expect to hear a lot from this budding artist in 2012. Go with the flow, ride the wave; this remix is WET.
