[Trap] Ekali & KRANE – Akira

Ekali & KRANE
Akira

THIS is how you kick off a new year. Ekali and KRANE have already established themselves as household names in the ever-changing genre of trap, so seeing them join forces on a monstrous collaboration is cause for celebration.

“Akira” is a marvel of melody and powerful percussion that utilizes the unique and outstanding aspects of each producer’s best qualities in a manner similar to the recent RL Grime, Skrillex, and What So Not smash, “Waiting”. One could even argue that these two might have just upstaged those legends on their new tune, but that’s for you to decide. Either way, “Akira” is going to be getting a LOT of festival play over the next couple of months without fail.

As for the rest of 2017, “Akira” is a strong way to start, and we’re certainly hoping for the possibility of more from Ekali and KRANE in the future. Do yourself a favor and grab the free download while you can!

I Won't Lie feat. Vanessa Elisha

We won’t lie, this latest offering from Falcons, Ekali and Vanessa Elisha is an international collaboration of epic proportions. “I Won’t Lie” is the epitome of style and substance. What seems like a party jam on the surface is undermined by a darker message behind it, as the desperate songstress vexingly struggles with all the doubts surrounding her relationship, forcing her to sputter into utter madness. It still makes for a pretty killer break down though, comprised of hypnotic pan flutes and ingratiating trap snares, with Vanessa’s seductive vocals coiling around the beat beautifully. Kick your weekend off the right way and make sure to grab a free download of this one as soon as possible.

Orphan's Son (Ekali Remix)

What else is there to be said about Ekali? The dude has quickly become not just a TMN favorite, but a force to be reckoned with in the bass music scene. With only eight tracks under his belt, he’s already racked up nearly 10,000 Soundcloud followers and that number will only continue to grow as industry tastemakers and leading producers keep taking notice. His latest effort is as dark and sinister as it is gorgeous. Eli Muro makes his Ninja debut as Ekali turns “Orphan’s Son” into a broody banger that I think anyone with a pulse can and will enjoy.
