A-Trak feat. Juicy J, Jim Jones, Flatbush Zombies, El-P and Flosstradamus – Piss Test (Remix)

Fool’s Gold never lets us down. Their upcoming Loosies mixtape, due out December 18th, is stacked to the ceiling with material from the likes of Action Bronson, Freeway, and Main Attrakionz. One of its highlights though might be this hefty remix of A-Trak‘s “Piss Test”. The original featured Danny Brown and Juicy J, but this rework has a slightly different (but still Grade A) lineup: Flosstradamus, Jim Jones, Flatbush Zombies, Juicy J, and El-P. It’s filthy and wild, just as we expected.

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo: Volume #9

It’s Tuesday, so you know what that means. It’s time for The Trap Dojo to take over your eardrums, so grab a cup of lean, pop in that gold grill and get ready to trap out. Flosstradamus kicks off this week in a huge way, with this track from their new XO 2 EP released this week. While there was a little bit of controversy surrounding them in the first XO EP because they weren’t crediting the artists they were remixing, they remedied the situation on this one. If you still haven’t picked up the EPs, head over to x.flosstradamus.com and tweet about it to get it for free. Next, Ookay, who is definitely a regular figure here at The Dojo, brings us two tracks. The first is an original featuring Gucci Mane and the other, a collaboration with Snails. Both songs hit hard and are at critical swag levels. Luminox tries his hand at remixing Major Lazer’s “Original Don” and while you might not expect any remix to surpass Flosstradamus’ mix, Luminox does no wrong here and gives the song a new flair. DJ Slink has been giving us plenty of really chill tracks lately, and doesn’t disappoint this week, with his remix of The Shins “New Slang” finishing off the list, but also remixing “Clique” into an instant Slink banger. Next up, Zombass brings some extra creepy bass to get you ready for Halloween. Udachi hits us with some awesome spacetrap vibes of his new EP Space Travel Starter Kit you can pick up free right hereWVTVPVCHI and Skrubz were thinking alike this week, both releasing tracks called “Phat Bass”. Who do you think did it better? The next tracks are all guaranteed floor shakers, so turn up the subs and enjoy.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the last few volumes of The Trap Dojo and be sure to get all this weeks free tracks  here.

[Trap] Flosstradamus – XO (EP)

Chicago based production duo Flosstradamus have been at the forefront of the rapidly emerging EDM Trap scene. Their remix of Major Lazer‘s Original Don may be the most popular song in the genre piquing the interest of electronic music and hip-hop fans alike. They continued to establish themselves as top-tier trap ambassadors over the summer, releasing several enormous mixes, remixes and original tracks. In August, they let loose an absolute slap with “Underground Anthem” and confirmed that they had an EP on the way. Innovative even in their distribution of music, the Fool’s Gold/Mad Decent affiliates put out all their material free, directly to the fans from their Twitter and Facebook pages. Last night, they revealed to their followers that the EP would be due out some time today, just in time to kick off the weekend early.

X☮ consists of three massive songs as the duo’s sound continues to progress setting the bar for their peers. Turn the volume up, put down whatever you’re doing and proceed to go ham from start to finish. You can stream the whole thing below and download it free here: Flosstradmus – X☮ (Password: bannedboyz). Just in case the download link crashes, you can grab the tracks individually underneath as well. Floss truly runs da trap!

’Flosstradamus – DRAK KNIGHT’
’Flosstradamus – TWARK’
’Flosstradamus – DEAF’

P.S. Flosstradamus also announced that this will be the first of a series of three EPs so make sure to keep an eye out!

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo #1

Welcome to the first volume of The Trap Dojo. This new weekly feature on The Music Ninja will bring you playlists of some of the best new Trap Music being released. This first volume includes some brand new tracks as well as a few of the hottest trap anthems of this past summer, and examples of the versatility of the genre with the many different styles on display.  If you regularly follow The Music Ninja, you may have a vague idea of what Trap Music is; or this may be a completely new musical experience for you. Trap, the label originally applied to Southern Hip-Hop artists like T.I., Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame and others, has now been adopted to describe this new musical movement, using the gangster beat of that Southern Hip-Hop, along with pumping 808 bass sounds, crisp snares and hi-hats, and mixing it with a more electronic sound. One of the fastest growing genres, Trap music is being promoted and produced by the likes of Diplo, Skrillex and some of the biggest names in EDM. Like any genre though, it is best to let the music speak for itself, so turn up your speakers, crank the bass up to “earthquake” and enjoy the first Trap Dojo.

[Trap/Hip-Hop] Flosstradamus – BANNED (Mix)

Last night, after being banned by the CPD from the Mad Decent Block Party in their hometown of Chicago, Flosstradamus dropped a 30-minute, groundbreaking monster of an electro-trap/hip-hop mix via their Twitter bringing us one step closer to the inevitable integration of the two styles. The Fool’s Gold duo incorporate a wide variety of the hardest hitting hip-hop tracks, from Juicy J‘s stripclub anthem “Bands a Make Her Dance” to Slim Thug’s classic verse from “Still Tippin” to Kanye West‘s “Mercy”(on which electro-trap producer Hudson Mohawke was actually credited with “additional instrumentation”), accompanied by the heaviest electronic sounds and percussion out.

Including some unreleased tracks from their upcoming album X☢ and drawing from a number of other notable producers in their niche, Flosstradamus has provided us with an unbelievable musical outline highlighting the collision course of these two genres. B⚠NNED, along with the recent release of the TNGHT EP and reemergence of artists like Juicy J and 2 Chainz, is just the beginning of a new brand of trap music that has the potential to be enormous. One of my favorite moments comes around the 22nd minute when they incorporate their “Pop That” remix to Major Lazer‘s “Original Don,” merging the dancehall-type vocals flawlessly with French Montana‘s anthem.

The first single from X☢ , “UNDERGR☢UND ANTHEM,” is due out on August 18th and the project is looking to be a milestone ushering in an exciting era for electronic music. This requires the highest volume and will likely induce raging upon pressing play. Shortly after releasing B⚠NNED the talented producers tweeted, “there’s something extra tight about giving out music this way.. directly to y’all from us. feels right.” Word up.

Stream the mix below and download it for the free by clicking here: Flosstradamus – B⚠NNED (Mix).

[Hip-Hop/Electro] Sir Michael Rocks – Now You Do (Prod. Flosstradamus)

Sir Michael Rocks, one half of Chicago’s Cool Kids and recent Jet Life signee, is set to release his debut solo album, Lap of Lux, on August 2nd. The first single and opening track, “Now You Do,” features Flosstradamus’s legendary remix of Lana del Rey’s “Video Games”, Lana’s ThemeI am one of the first to advocate for the fusion of electronic and hip-hop and this is a perfect example of how the two can work together. The hard-hitting, trap-style of Flosstradamus, also based in Chicago, fits perfectly with the grittiness of rap. While many hip-hop loyalists are extremely cautious when it comes to incorporating EDM, artists like Sir Michael show us that the two can coexist without harming artistic integrity. An awesome collaboration that should be played at high volumes, preferably in a residential area.

[Trap] Flosstradamus – Lana’s Theme [Free Download]

We hold Mad Decent, Diplo’s own label, to be one of the most innovative and influential labels in today’s time. Since its conception they have single handedly contributed in the popularization of Brazilian baile funk, Angolan kuduro, Moombahton and of course Trap.

Today Flosstradamus, the stage name of Chicago-based DJs J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci), surprised us with what we thought would be an unassuming remix of Lana Del Rey. We could not have been more misguided. Leave it to the 30 second mark for Flosstradamus to flip things around into an addictive and refreshing trap beat that although independent, it organically combines with Mrs Del Ray soothing vocals to produce one coherent track.
