[NEW] Beyoncé – Beyoncé: The Visual Album

’Beyoncé
Drunk In Love (feat. Jay Z)’
’Beyoncé
Superpower (feat. Frank Ocean)’
’Beyoncé
Mine (feat. Drake)’

The Holiday season is upon us, and in the spirit of giving Beyoncé has decided to drop a brand new album seemingly out of thin air. Titled Beyoncé: The Visual Album, the rather ambitious project features 14 tracks and 18 unique music videos. It’s difficult to determine what’s more remarkable here: the fact that Beyoncé can drop an album with virtually no promotion at all, or that she painstakingly took the time to shoot 18 individual music videos for all of these tracks without any details leaking out. This will certainly be an interesting experiment to keep our eyes on for sure, and we’d like to see what numbers Bey can pull off with her latest studio effort.

We’ve included some of our favorites here, but make sure to purchase the album on iTunes, which includes features from her husband Jay-Z, her daughter Blue Ivy, Drake and Frank Ocean. You can also catch previews for all her videos on YouTube.

[Hip-Hop] Earl Sweatshirt – Sunday (Feat. Frank Ocean)

Earl Sweatshirt
Sunday (Feat. Frank Ocean)

The Earl Sweatshirt leaks continue to pour in as we ready ourselves for the release of his debut album, Doris, early next week. I had to blink twice as I wrote that last sentence, because it seems like Earl’s been a staple in our rotation for awhile now. That tells you just about everything you need to know about how talented he really is. Joining him on his latest effort is Odd Future running mate, Frank Ocean. While we all know and love Frank for his pristine vocal chords, he seizes this opportunity to get a few thoughts off his chest. Perfect for a “Sunday,” right?

What I appreciate about Frank is that while he does have bars, he doesn’t take every opportunity to try and shove his rap skills down our throats (unlike certain other artists who he may or may not be taking shots at during his verse); his entire process feels organic, and perhaps even a little cathartic. At the end of the day though, he knows when to stick to his strengths, which is why he’s such a brilliant artist. All that aside, “Sunday” is yet another stellar number to add to Earl’s collection. The anticipation is nearly suffocating us at this point, but with Doris right around the corner (August 20th), it looks like our patience will finally pay off.

[NEW] John Mayer – Wildfire (Feat. Frank Ocean)

John Mayer
Wildfire (Feat. Frank Ocean)

While this pairing may seem out of the ordinary at first, John Mayer and Frank Ocean are no strangers to collaborating with one another. Those well acquainted with last year’s highly praised channel ORANGE may recall that Mayer laid down the guitar work for two of the album’s tracks, “Pyramids” and “White.” Now, Frank returns the favor by lacing this terse ballad with his soothing, effortless vocals. The track is a little too short for our tastes, but we’ll take whatever we can get from the duo.

Beware of the title by the way, as it’s easy to mistake this for a remix to the single that Mayer dropped a month back. While that track will play as an introduction to his upcoming sixth studio album, Paradise Valley, this one will be used as more of an interlude. For those interested in hearing the project in its entirety, it’s currently streaming for free on iTunes prior to its release on August 20th.

The Trap Dojo #29

Welcome to the first Trap Dojo on the revamped site. Our first track is an incredibly sexy remix of Frank Ocean‘s “Super Rich Kids”. Bird Peterson makes this song smoother than the cocoa butter you`ll be spreading on your girls back while listening to it (or visa versa). Next, Mr. Vega hits us with a ton of sharp bars from several different rappers on this vocal remix of his track “I’m Livin”. ETC. ETC. and Brillz bring you back to late 80s Harlem with their own take on the New Jack Swing. This is a track you can definitely do the (real) Harlem Shake to. If you aren’t familiar with Rustie then take note. This Scottish DJ has been huge in the UK Dubstep and Grime scene since back in 07, and this track is absolutely infectious. With this remix of Chief Keef‘s “I Don’t Like”, Willy Joy shows how he’s able to turn a hard hitting rap anthem into a dance floor banger, switching back and forth between the original instrumentals and his crazy remix, this time with a hype Moombah flip. The end of the list contains a great lovetrap mashup from Watapachi with some smooth lyrics from 50 Cent, some Keys N Krates, a trio of musicians who actually perform their songs live, a real treat in the modern EDM age, and some Future Screw, from the master of Future Screw, Trill Scott Heron.

[New] Frank Ocean – Wise Man

Odd Future artist Frank Ocean has been having a great year. From his critically acclaimed and top selling debut to topping Entertainment Weekly’s list of Best Albums of 2012. Just in time for the holiday season, the R&B crooner leaks a new track for fans titled “Wise Man”. Although originally recorded for the upcoming Tarantino Django Unchained flick, this poetic ballad didn’t make the final cut. It is signature Ocean style with deep lyrics about the good and bad of man that is continuously pushed forward by an old western guitar rip and some drum work.
