[NEW] Kid Cudi – Satellight Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon (Album)

’Kid Cudi – Balmain Jeans (feat. Raphael Saadiq)’
’Kid Cudi – Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Now’

In true ninja fashion, Kid Cudi just sneakily released his highly anticipated prequel to the next chapter of the MOTM series on iTunes. On first listen, Satellight Flight continues Cudi’s spacey, introspective and theatrical narrative all the while progressing his newfound production prowess with several lengthy instrumental portions. Don’t expect to hear much rapping from the moon man, but also keep in mind that this is more of a precursor to Man on the Moon Pt. 3 than a feature album in itself. From an artistic perspective, musicians like Kid Cudi deserve more respect than they receive for attempting to do something larger than just release a series of singles.

It is difficult not to think of Beyonce‘s spur-of-the-moment release as a catalyst for this kind of roll out. It will be exciting to see how this pans out and who else follows in Queen Bey’s footsteps.  Check out a couple tracks above and head over to iTunes to cop the whole project.

[Mashup] Treezus – Love Lockdown x Electric Feel (Kanye West x SeventhWonder)

’Treezus
Kanye West X SevnthWonder’

Mashups are a difficult art to master. The idea of blending two ostensibly compatible songs together seems simple enough in theory, but rarely does it ever work in execution. Often times they can sound forced or lazily mixed, leading to something that ends up being less than the sum of its parts. A truly great mashup should feel like a completely original composition on its own, something that sounds exceptional independently from its source material. There are very few producers who can accomplish this, but we may have to consider adding Treezus to that short list. While not much is known about the young producer, this mashup between TMN mainstays Kanye West and SevnthWonder certainly caught my attention rather easily. “Love Lockdown” has never been one of my favorite entries in Kanye’s vast library, but once mixed with “Electric Feel” it transforms from a sparse, melancholic love song, into a wondrous electronic joyride. After you stream/download the track above, feel free to checkout out some of Treezus’ other mashups as well, which you can listen to below or find on his official SoundCloud page.

‘Tis definitely the season for musical gifts. To most people’s surprise, Cleveland native Kid Cudi is back with a brand new track for our listening pleasure. As always, Cudi is not afraid of experimenting with his sound. He keeps the mood dark but interesting with a genre-crossing sound and melancholy vibe. Mixing together a blend of singing and rapping over trippy, atmospheric production, this track is reminiscent of his Man on the Moon flow. This is the first track off his upcoming EP, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, however no release date is confirmed yet. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy a journey through the otherworldly sound of the rager.

Vortex (ft. Kid Cudi & Pusha T)

King Chip, formerly known as Chip tha Ripper, has always been a ninja favorite for his unique brand of smooth, laid-back raps. When you add his fellow Cleveland native, Kid Cudi, to the picture the outcome never fails to be dope. On a standout from Chip’s latest mixtape, 44108, the dynamic duo, and Wicked Awesome labelmates, team up with G.O.O.D. Music’s man of the hour Pusha T for a refreshingly original track.

On “Vortex,” Cudi and Dot da Genius (aka WZRD) team up for a psychedelic, guitar and piano-laden beat setting the tone perfectly for a song about a dangerous love interest. Cudder creates one of his trademark hooks taking his vocals up an octave from what we’re used to. Pusha T continues his relentless streak of vicious bars and King Chip continues the maturation of his style delivering with the confidence of a vet.

Enjoy this great track above and, if you’re digging it as much as we are, make sure to grab the whole 44108 project, which includes a number of other notable features, for free HERE.
