[Future] Petit Biscuit – Problems (Taska Black Remix) ft. Lido

PETIT BISCUIT
Problems Ft. Lido (Taska Black Remix)

Taska Black slowed it down with his remix of Petit Biscuit and Lido‘s song “Problems”. Straight off of the track’s remix EP, this particular one stands out from the others, and it’s pretty easy to see why. But you don’t need to take it from me, Petit Biscuit had this to say about it: “Taska Black made Problems sounds like one of the freshest future pop track ever. This is something different, something nice, and something we all try to find!”

Taska Black really presents his musical abilities in this remix. While holding onto Lido’s beautiful vocals, almost everything else in the track was redone by him. Everything culminates in the drop when Taska Black lets loose with future synths and a manipulated version of Lido’s voice. What strikes me the most about this remix, however, is how it manages to be mellow and exciting at the same time. The style is multifaceted, and it really reflects how versatile Taska Black is as a producer.

’Lido & Santell – Mariah/Say You Scared’

After releasing the well-circulated, greatly successful album Everything this past October, Lido hopped on tour to promote his new material. As we covered during a stop here in the Bay Area, Lido was equipped with an impressive live setup, taking over some of the most prestigious venues across the country. Now, after finishing up the Everything Tour, the young producer has once again teamed up with Santell to follow up their Passion Project series.

A slight departure from the solo sounds of Lido and a world away from the Jersey Club characteristics of Trippy Turtle, the duo have made clear in PPII that the success of the electronic R&B collaboration is no fluke. In fact, the genre is gaining some traction behind producers such as Mar and Full Crate as well. In Passion Project II, listeners get an earful of what the duo have been up to since the October 2015 release of PPI. Continue reading

[Event Review] Lido gives it Everything in his return to Bay Area

As a trailblazer in the field and a posterboy to the new electronic movement, Peder Losnegård is far beyond needing introduction. Abandoning previous musical incarnations, Lido emerged as a preeminent producer a few years back, co-creating Halsey’s Badlands LP and touring around the country in support of his own works. While also gaining some notoriety for credits on works with Chance the Rapper, Alison Wonderland, and Banks, his star continued to grow brighter by the month. Over the course of 2016, Lido has made major headway in cementing his place among the dominant producers of the era – along with the likes of Flume, Hudson Mohawke, Cashmere Cat, and Jack Garratt.

Bringing his North American fan base a much anticipated step away from reality, the prodigal record producer, songwriter, and occasional rapper embarked on an ambitious 14-date tour in support of last month’s wildly popular sophomore release, Everything.

[R&B] Lido & Santell – Ashley

Lido & Santell
Ashley

It’s always a good day when we have some fresh music from Lido. The Norwegian producer has decided to bless us with a brand new single, teaming up with Santell aka “the light skinned Tyrese” for a smooth cut dedicated to “Ashley”. The R&B jam might be Lido’s most straightforward song to date, comprised of finger snaps, bass kicks and tranquil synths that hearken back to the genre’s heyday.  Though the track has been floating around the internet for about a year now, it finally gets its day in the sun as the first single from Lido & Santell’s upcoming collaborative EP, The Passion Project, set for release on October 23 through Mad Decent and Pelican Fly. Stream the tune above, and make sure to cop the EP when it drops.

Drunk Texting

It’s always a good day when Trippy Turtle drops off a new tune. Today, we get “Drunk Texting,” which, per TT’s signature style, combines a ridiculous arrangement of future electronic elements with strategically placed samples from hip-hop and R&B classics. This time around, the trippiest of turtles bounces pretty much all over the place in the best possible, and cohesive, way. Taking vocal chops from DrakeJhene AikoAndre 3000 and Chris Brown, “Drunk Texting” tells a story all its own while simultaneously doing all the various superstar voices justice. It’s a bouncy track that’ll keep you on your toes as do all compositions by Trippy Turtle, aka Lido.

[New] Jeremih – Planes (Lido + Chance the Rapper & The Social Experiment Remix)

Jeremih
Planes Remix

Lido and Chance the Rapper‘s The Social Experiment band already proved that they’re a match made in heaven on their collab with Towkio earlier this month. Today, the forward-thinking combo return with a remix of Jeremih‘s “Planes” that only they could create. For the first few minutes, Lido lays down a textured, dynamic backdrop for Jeremih’s silky vocals that builds into a soulful break that, when accompanied with The Social Experiment’s signature horns, creates a uniquely jazzy, electronic-infused vibe. Chance drops in for the last minute with a verse that’s as on-point and clever as ever addressing lady problems in a way that oscillates between emotions effortlessly. This one’s perfect for your Saturday morning. We certainly hope there’s some more coming from these guys but this should do just fine to hold us over in the meantime.
