[NEW] Odesza – Light (feat. Little Dragon)

ODESZA
Light (feat. Little Dragon)

It feels like every week Odesza have exciting new material to set the interwebs ablaze–whether it be enormous remixes, releases through their Foreign Family Collective or even fan videos of yet-to-be-released songs from their acclaimed live sets. This week proves no different as the Seattle production duo announce the upcoming release of a deluxe edition of their 2014 album In Return. Along with that announcement, they let loose a brand new original track featuring the Swedish electro-pop geniuses of Little Dragon.

The unconventional, yet enticing, crooning of Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano feels like a natural pairing with the shimmering instrumentation of Odesza. “Light” slightly tones down the intense percussion we’re used to from the duo, though, rather gliding beautifully and relying more on the radiant elements of their sound. Even with a more stripped down approach, the chorus proves irresistible as Odesza inject just enough of the enormity we’ve come to expect from them. It’s a truly mesmerizing collaboration that we hope results in more new music between the two pioneering acts.

The deluxe edition of In Return is out on September 18th via Counter Records and can be pre-ordered here.

[Chill] Little Dragon – Klapp Klapp (Nosaj Thing Remix ft. Future)

Little Dragon
Klapp Klapp (Nosaj Thing remix featuring Future)

Swedish band, Little Dragonreleased their anticipated fourth studio album a couple days ago and it has already received quite a bit of critical acclaim. Building off that momentum, they released a brand new remix with a couple unlikely collaborators–experimental lo-fi producer Nosaj Thing and Atlanta’s auto-tuner Future

As expected, Nosaj strips down “Klapp Klapp,” a pretty upbeat song, into a beautifully layered and intricate cut that matches the relaxing vocals of Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano. Future makes his brief appearance at the 2:15 point and does a good job of keeping with the vibe although its still a bit of an unusual combination. This one’s perfect for late nights. Nabuma Rubberband is out now on iTunes.

[Synth/Indie-Pop] Little Dragon – Let Go

Little Dragon
Let Go

We’ve been following Little Dragon‘s every move leading up to the release of their fourth official long player, and this morning the Swedish dance-poppers have unveiled a third single off of Nabuma Rubberband. “Let Go” is a slow burning slice of melodic pop, leaning on a stripped down, sultry Yukimi Nagano vocal and subdued percussion; which to the delight of their purist fans falls more in line with the minimal dance sound of their debut self-titled album than the sticky-sweet electro-bounce the world at large has fallen for. Regardless, this one will no doubt find its way into the hearts of Little Dragon fans both old and new with its beautiful instrumentation and obvious crossover shine. We simply can’t contain our collective excitement around here for the album’s official release date of May 13 and subsequent live tour, so if you happen to vacate one of the lucky cities on their next jaunt, we highly recommend you don’t skip on the chance to be whisked into a gorgeous Little Dragon live set. Premiering as Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record” on BBC Radio 1, “Paris” is the latest track off the Swedish electro-pop group’s upcoming LP Nabuma Rubberband. Waves of neo-soul melodies fade in and out of airy, electronic beats as frontwoman Yukimi Nagano croons in the background (even throwing some French lyrics in the mix). Nabuma Rubberband is out May 13 via Loma Vista.

Make no mistake, Little Dragon are back and better than ever, and they aren’t being shy about their return at all. With their fourth studio album, Nabuma Rubberband, set for release on May 13th, the Swedish pop group have unleashed the first taste of what they’ve been cooking over the last three years. “Klapp Klapp” is a torrentially fervent effort that rushes towards the listener and grabs them by the head.  The spastic bassline and rapid drums are balanced out by Yukimi Nagano‘s airy vocals, resulting in a refreshingly boisterous experience. Little Dragon – Ritual Union (Virgin Magnetic Material Remix)

The experimental remix project of Virgin Magnetic Material, consisting of Shai Vardi from Tel Aviv, take the infectious fast-paced Little Dragon song “Ritual Union” and flip the beat for the remix. Although some may not be familiar with the group Little Dragon, listener’s should recognize the lead singer’s soft and haunting vocals from many of SBTRKT‘s singles featured on this site. Giving this already dope track a new texture and sound that appeals more to a slow-downed vibe. Slower and more ethereal, this atmospheric remix is a beautiful interpretation of the original. Little Dragon – Sunshine (Star Slinger Remix)

Here’s a legitimate question: Does British producer Star Slinger ever sleep? It seems as though he’s got his hands in just about every major project out there. And that’s in addition to his own original creations! This time around he turns his attention towards “Sunshine,” a funky synthy gem from Swedish indie pop group Little Dragon. After Star’s worked his remix magic, it’s a suave, but electrifying dance floor number. It gets down with exuberance, while still holding onto the original’s groove. Check out both versions below.

The remix is being promoted alongside an Absolut-sponsored show in Brixton featuring Star Slinger and Little Dragon. Having seen both artists live, I can attest that this gig will be superb.
