[R&B] Miguel – How Many Drinks? (Remix) (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)

Miguel
How Many Drinks Remix (feat. Kendrick Lamar)?

Miguel and Kendrick Lamar both broke out in a big way in 2012. After sharing the cover of VIBE magazine together, it’s clear the two have even bigger plans for 2013, like this remix to Miguel’s excellent single, “How Many Drinks?” Last year, Miguel proved he could carry a full album without any features with the Grammy nominated, Kaleidoscope Dream. However, it never hurts to have a little help from your friends, and Kendrick Lamar is certainly good company to keep around. Kendrick doesn’t manage to steal the show this time, but he does deliver a steady verse with his contribution, even slyly referencing his own hit song, “Swimming Pools (Drank).” Miguel keeps all the same elements of the original with his smooth and keen vocals, making this a must-listen for any R&B fans out there. Look out for the return of Miguel’s Art Dealer Chic EP series later this summer.

Unlike most music videos, this one does without the flash and gaudiness, instead stripping it down and focusing on the art of the performance. Produced by the gifted folks at Yours Truly (who almost always create stunning, intimate visuals like this), it’s the kind of piece that reminds us why we are so drawn to artists like Miguel: for the heart in music.

With his latest release, Miguel takes a more unconventional route and delivers a mixtape series, Art Dealer Chic and Kaleidoscope Dream: The Air Preview, in preparation for his upcoming sophomore release Kaleidoscope Dream. One of the standout singles from these previews was the smooth, sultry single “Adorn”. Being one of the strongest singles Miguel has dropped since his debut, it was only a matter of time before rappers hopped on for the remix.

’Miguel – Adorn (Wiz Khalifa Remix)’

Stepping onto the first remix is the Pittsburgh emcee Wiz Khalifa. Not changing the beat, Khalifa keeps the same smooth vibe of the original and adds on a kush-laced rhyme. His addition is probably the most official and available for download here.

Miguel - Adorn (Grafh Remix)

New comer Grafh delivers his lyrical talents to keep the sexual mood in the beginning of the track. Breaking down a night of what the Jamaica Plains, NY emcee wants to do to the female listeners, he does his best to spit game over the already sensual beat.
