[Indie] MS MR – Painted

MS MR
Painted

MS MR had a massive year in 2014 with the release of their debut album, Secondhand Rapture, that included chart breaking hits such as “Hurricane.” Returning with a new look, the New York duo is getting a little darker and digging a little deeper. Their new original, “Painted,” that just surfaced marks their new direction. Both sexy and dramatic, the tune incorporates robust vocals, vivacious drums, chic electronic inspirations, and steamy electric guitar chords. Back in with a triumphant return, it is always a risk going a new direction, but these two have executed it flawlessly. We are beyond excited to see what these two have in store next. MS MR- Dark Doo Wop (Birthday Boy Version)

When it comes to remixes, there are only a few outcomes that can be reached: the remixes that take a beautiful original and in the simplest of words, destroy it, the ones that take a song and turn it into something even better than the original, and finally the ones that take a great track, and transform it into a divergent product of just as much greatness and quality. Most of you can probably agree that music such as MS MR’s is borderline flawless to say the very least, and to renovate any of their tracks is a pretty bold move.

After successfully astonishing all of us at TMN with his feel-good remix of Beyonce’s “Party,” Birthday Boy once again catches us off guard with his latest remix of MS MR’s “Dark Doo Wop.” Maintaining the fun, care-free sound we first heard in his “Party” remix, Birthday Boy mixes in some hints of funk while preserving the mysteriousness that betokens MS MR.

Though many of you may be die-hard fans of the original, may we strongly suggest you give this rendition a listen. It differs much, but is just as sweet to the ear.

[Indie Pop] Sir Sly – Inferno (feat. MS MR)

Sir Sly
Inferno ft. Lizzy Plapinger of MS MR

The up and coming indie group Sir Sly is making a name for themselves by establishing a unique electronic sound in their short career so far. They released a track titled “Inferno” and it’s a collaboration with the female lead singer of the exciting group MS MR.

In this genre of alternative music, Sir Sly is definitely one of the frontrunners on the list, with names like Florence and the Machine, Little Daylight, HAIM, etc. This one here is a little different from their usual work, a little faster and a little more playful. With their signature bass-driven instrumentals, the catchy melody of the song is fueled by Lizzy Plapinger’s vocals. The intro riff adds a mysterious and adventurous feel to the entire song. The two singers harmonize exceptionally well in the chorus, making it a memorable tune.

This recent release is a sneak peek of Sir Sly’s debut album You Haunt Me, which is available on September 16. Make sure you don’t miss it because this one is a must have!
