Earlier today, we premiered Noosa’s first track off of her new album, Wonderland. If you missed the boat, you can check it out and read up on how we’re premiering the entire album, song by song.

After you’re done with that, feel free to dig into a much deeper, brooding lyrics from this now LA-based vocalist. While the last tune brimmed with whimsy, “Clocktower” is obviously tied to a serious life event. Her luscious vocals definitively add tremendous depth to this tune, providing something that’s inherently intense and personal.

Producer Mickey Valen adds to the haunting pensive lyrics with a rich background of light, trembling synths and a powerful section of strings.

After two songs we’ve now seen two completely different sides to Wonderland. Check back in tomorrow to see what’s on tap.

Noosa – Begin Again [TMN PREMIERE]

Begin Again

We’ve been writing about Noosa for quite some time. In fact, our adoration for this indie act dates all the way back to the debut EP, which dropped in February of 2012. Fast forward a couple of years and we’ve grown even fonder of this collaboration between Noosa and her producer, Mickey Valen.

Aside from a few releases here and there, Noosa has been relatively quiet for a while, and now we know why. Today marks the first release from their upcoming LP, Wonderland. Featuring nine songs, this album is self-released under her own label. The goal behind this is to inspire other people to take charge of their own creative potential.

Everything you hear was recorded in an apartment. Vocals were literally done in a closet. It’s just taking what you have access to and finding ways to maximize your potential”

We’re fortunate enough to be bringing you every single song from this new album over the next week. Each day, we will be premiering multiple tracks, and frankly, we couldn’t be happier about doing it. First up is one of our favorites from the album, ‘Begin Again,’ which offers up a slightly more electronica-based exploration of Noosa’s sound, in comparison to the rest of the album. Of course there’s a glowing piano melody, as we’ve come to expect, but we’re also offered up a light section of strings. Coupled in with layered levels of synths and chopped up vocal samples, we’re helplessly enchanted by Sky’s lyrics. Her sensuous and nurturing voice helps illustrate a wondrous message that has us completely lost in our day dreams.

This is just the first song of many that you’ll hear first on The Music Ninja. Make sure to check in every day to hear what’s next!

Noosa
Live For/From Time mash-up (Drake, The Weeknd)

We already know what you’re thinking, so before you roll your eyes hear us out first. Yes, this is yet another Drake cover, and yes, it’s unlike anything you’ve heard before. Bringing us the cure for the average Drake cover is Noosa, who blends together a wonderful medley of Drizzy and Jhené Aiko‘s “From Time” with The Weeknd‘s “Live For.” What we have here is nothing short of beautiful, as the brilliant songstress weaves together a delightful masterpiece that finds a cool balance between the esoteric lows and ebullient highs of both songs. The talented Mickey Valen provides a sprawling landscape for Noosa to thrive in, with swelling synths and gorgeous piano riffs that compliment her delicately airy vocals perfectly. You can listen to the breathtaking track above, or catch a glimpse of the astounding live rendition below. Either way, you’re guaranteed be left speechless.

Ghost Beach – Close Enough (Feat. Noosa)

The rising electro-pop duo Ghost Beach are back to share another hypnotizing collaborative track. After pairing up with San Francisco’s summertime enthusiast Viceroy on “While We’re In Love,” the New York-based tropical duo have teamed up with the lovely and much-featured-on-The-Music-Ninja artist, Noosa.

“Close Enough” is a nostalgic track, reminiscent of 80’s and its bright summer days as the impeccable production (by Nic Hard of The Bravery and Aberdeen City) lays a foundation for the vocals to glide through the track. This new original track is off their next full-length, which is currently untitled and without a set release date.
