[Chill] Little Dragon – Klapp Klapp (Nosaj Thing Remix ft. Future)

Little Dragon
Klapp Klapp (Nosaj Thing remix featuring Future)

Swedish band, Little Dragonreleased their anticipated fourth studio album a couple days ago and it has already received quite a bit of critical acclaim. Building off that momentum, they released a brand new remix with a couple unlikely collaborators–experimental lo-fi producer Nosaj Thing and Atlanta’s auto-tuner Future

As expected, Nosaj strips down “Klapp Klapp,” a pretty upbeat song, into a beautifully layered and intricate cut that matches the relaxing vocals of Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano. Future makes his brief appearance at the 2:15 point and does a good job of keeping with the vibe although its still a bit of an unusual combination. This one’s perfect for late nights. Nabuma Rubberband is out now on iTunes.

[Hip-Hop] Nosaj Thing & Chance The Rapper – Paranoia

Nosaj Thing x Chance The Rapper
Paranoia

If you downloaded Acid Rap last week, you may recognize this collaboration from Nosaj Thing and Chance The Rapper. Hidden as a secret track on the mixtape (right after “Pusha Man“), “Paranoia” is just the latest contribution to the “Songs From Scratch” series made possible by YoursTruly and Adidas Originals. Like previous editions of the series, this pairing may seem odd at first, but as soon as you press play you understand the genius behind the choice. Chance sounds right at home as he flows over the ambient, slinky bankdrop, describing his reasons for being paranoid in Chicago. If you appreciate this new tune from Chance and Nosaj, take a look at some behind the scenes footage below to understand how the song came about.

[Hip-Hop] Kami de Chukwu – Light (Mixtape)

After several impressive leaks, Chicago-based Kami de Chukwu, of the SaveMoney collective, released his debut mixtape a few days ago catapulting himself onto the radar of many open-minded hip-hop fans. Through out Light, Kami showcases a wide range of lyrical ability experimenting and growing along the way. With a diverse collection of original and classic production ranging from J Dilla to Hudson Mohawke to Nosaj Thing, there is bound to be something for all music listeners on this tape. On some tracks, such as “Manifest” and “Ig’Nant,” Chukwu comes off dark and cunning, while on cuts like “Prey” and “Red Rover” he shows a more pensive and laid back side. Light is a courageous first effort as the beat selection is lightyears from conventional. However, Chukwu pulls it off nearly flawlessly with the help of some fellow Chi-town reps.

Lights is an essential project for hip-hop fans and really anyone fascinated by the blurring of genre lines. Stream some of our favorite tracks below and download the whole tape free here: Kami de Chukwu – Light.

[Electronic] Nosaj Thing – Coat of Arms (Boreta Remix)

The original version of “Coat of Arms” by LA’s Nosaj Thing clearly packs a haunting and powerful punch. Recently, the track ended up in the hands of Justin Boreta (The Glitch Mob). We are treated to a colossal onslaught of ear-splitting Hip-Hop beats, and dark, fat ass synths…true to The Glitch Mob style. While Boreta attacks our senses, important layers of Nosaj Thing’s original mix are still intact, and well displayed.

The original version of “Coat of Arms” is available on Nosaj Thing’s debut album, “Drift”.
