[Beautiful] Oh Wonder – All We Do

Oh Wonder
All We Do

For many, December 1st means two things: Cyber Monday & Christmas prep. Us ninjas had our calendars marked for a different reason: the release of another track from Oh Wonder. The intriguing UK duo are unveiling their debut album over the course of a year with a new single on the first of each month. Their latest offering sees Oh Wonder at their most somber, free of any electronic elements, with a sole piano melody serving as the backdrop. The minimalistic instrumental draws attention to their incredible vocal duet and potent songwriting abilities. “All We Do” beautifully captures feelings of vulnerability–equally fitting for taking a chance in a relationship or taking the first step towards your dreams. Melt away with this stripped down masterpiece above–look for their next release on their Soundcloud page on January 1st.

Oh Wonder
Body Gold (Louis The Child Remix)

If it hasn’t become apparent by now, we here at TMN have become totally enamored by the ever elusive duo, Oh Wonder. After having stumbled upon them by sheer luck, we knew it was only a matter of time before the two took the world by their haunting melodies and sucked us into a vortex of pure euphoria. Since their internet take over, producers from all around have been lining up to share their interpretations of Oh Wonder’s enchanting pieces but have failed to get our attention. After listening to way too many mundane, unoriginal renditions, we felt as if no one on this planet would have the balls to give us something refreshing or unique to change our minds. Well, tonight might be the night where we can have a change in heart because we just so happened to get our hands on a phenomenal remix of “Body Gold” by the underage duo, Louis The Child. Since receiving this in our email, we have listened to this at least 30 times and still haven’t gone insane.

This Future Bass take on “Body Gold” gives us a sort of sexual tension that effortlessly builds up into the ultimate release of a lifetime. Filled with a subtle amount of atmospheric elements, a wobbly synth breakdown, and a soothing percussive flow, Louis The Child made us realize that someone could re-work the glory of Oh Wonder and take us to places unimaginable. Their remix makes us feel as if we are running across a field of flowers and fairies are dancing around us, sprinkling pixie dust and love all over the place. Also, we should say that there may or may not be unicorns in this fictitious scenario so prepare for the best imagery you’ve ever had.All in all, there really is no place we’d rather be than where we are right now – even if it is at the library at almost 9 o’clock at night. This one is going to be on repeat for the rest of the week, so escape to paradise with this one and make sure to grab your free download in the mean time.

[Chill] Oh Wonder – Dazzle

Oh Wonder
Dazzle

Exactly two months ago, a UK-based duo by the name of Wonder Wonder released their debut track, “Body Gold,” a powerful, addicting duet that immediately caught our attention. Along with the single, the relatively mysterious band revealed that they will be “releasing one song a month for the next year” leading up to the release of their album. After following up with the equally impressive “Shark” last month, they return with a slightly tweaked band name, Oh Wonder, and another quality offering.

“Dazzle” displays another facet of Oh Wonder’s captivating, minimalistic sound bringing in some electronic elements to accompany their perfectly contrasted vocals. The songwriting on the tracks thus far has been particularly compelling drawing the listener in to a state of relaxation and reflection. Their next song will be dropping on December 1st but, in the meantime, “Dazzle,” which comes right in time to soothe any post-Halloween hangovers, should do more than enough to hold us over. 2014 definitely has the makings of a big year for Oh Wonder and we’re looking forward to hearing what these two talented musicians have in store for us in the coming months.
