Continuing on with our month-long spotlight on Mr. Sam Feldt, we’re eager to bring you an up-close-and-personal, in-depth interview with this rapidly rising dance music star. From the early years, to his recent remix of an absolute legend, we have you covered. Read the entire transcript below.
TMN: Hey Sam! Thank you for taking some time to answer a few questions for us. We’re really excited to have you on board. Let’s kick things off by talking about your latest release, a remix of Avicii’s “Waiting for Love.” How did that come about?
SF: Hey guys, thanks so much for having me! The “Waiting For Love” remix request came as a bit of surprise to me, to be honest. A pleasant one, though. Avicii is one of my favorite producers and having the honor to remix one of his tracks is amazing. The original version is an awesome track but more radio oriented, so for my remix I decided to go for a more club-focused version that I could play in my live sets too.
TMN: Talk to us about your biggest hit, “Show Me Love,” which features Kimberly Anne. How did the inspiration to cover/reimagine Robyn S’ legendary tune come about?
SF: It’s a funny story, actually. One night, I was bored surfing on YouTube (I’m sure you know these kinda nights) and stumbled upon this great cover of “Show Me Love” that Kimberly did in her bed room studio. The audio and video quality wasn’t perfect but I immediately heard that I had to do something with it. My label Spinnin Records agreed and we contacted Kimberly Anne to request the audio file for the version she did. Luckily she responded to our request and shortly after I began working on the track, with only her voice as a starting point. I built the track around the acapella completely and I think that’s one of the reasons the song is so different from the original and the other versions that are already out there. Continue reading →
Here’s a fun fact: Sam Feldt’s facebook page was started in September of 2013. Let that sink in for just a minute. Pretty crazy, right? That’s just under two years, and at this point, he’s worked himself into a household name amongst the blogosphere, the radio, and festival goers alike.
With massively adored originals and remixes, Feldt has captured our collective attention, racking up hypem hearts and SoundCloud plays faster than most could ever dream of. In fact, one scroll through his work will leave you pretty damn impressed by the millions of plays he’s acquired.
For the next month, we’ll be shining a bright, ninja spotlight on this crazy talented Amsterdammer. Expect to see a contest to pick up tickets to an upcoming show, and exclusive interview, and a custom mix. In the meantime, though, feel free to enjoy our hand-selected favorite tunes from the man himself.
Once you’re done jamming out to this collection, head over to Spotify to stream his brand new track “Show Me Love,” or over to iTunes to purchase.
’Sam Feldt & The Him ft. The Donnies The Amys – Drive You Home (Available August 31)’
Teaming up with fellow Dutch duo The Him, Sam Feldt is taking the deep house scene by storm with this release. The talented producer is no stranger to house music, as he continues to explore into unventured territories. The combination of cadences with ANGI3‘s lovely vocals works wonders, creating a catchy track that is easily identified with signature Sam Feldt maneuvers. The loud melodic chords are especially appealing to big room crowds, and they help create a potential dance anthem for many in the foreign lands. It’s surprising to see how much the Dutch producer has grown in less than a year’s time.
This record will be out on Spinnin’ Deep on March 30. Make sure to get your dancing gear on because this is about to be your next summer anthem in the near future!
Sam Feldt is back with another killer remix! Spicing up the meaningful track originally by Hedegaard and Lukas Graham, the Dutch producer is definitely making a statement with this memorable tune. The vocals by Danish electronic group Lukas Graham soar powerfully throughout the track, and are accompanied by a series of his signature synth, taking us on a roller coaster ride of emotions. This tune is about paying tribute to the lost family members, and reminiscing the good times we all have as a family. It will surely hit you right in the feels. The deep factor gives it a more upbeat approach as you sing your heart out to this track.
This new remix is to be released via Spinnin’ Records on February 2nd. Kudos to Sam Feldt and make sure to follow him on Soundcloud for more dope tunes!
