As these hot, hot temperatures finally begin to let up a bit, at least for now, we aren’t hesitating to take advantage of the beautiful days by spending them by the water. As most of us know, there is almost nothing more satisfying than sprawling out on the sand, soaking in the sun and feeling that reoccurring cool breeze on your skin. The only thing that can possibly enhance this experience is some great music playing in the background. That’s why this week we conjured up a selection of tunes to both relax and get energized to.

With his upcoming album, Recess, set to drop on March 18th, Skrillex decided to have some fun with his fans by releasing a mysterious app earlier today called “Alien Ride.” Hidden deep within the bizarre little game were 11 files that coincidentally matchup with the tracklist for his new project, essentially providing an early stream of his new album. Among those was this highly anticipated collaboration with Chance The Rapper, which was previously premiered live during a show in Brooklyn last month.
Featuring a chorus that asks “What your interests are? Who you be with? Can I ask a question? Can you keep a secret?” the talented duo pair together to produce a surprisingly upbeat, jazzy number that builds upon the sound heard from Chance on his Acid Rap mixtape. With this dancefloor-ready single in play now, the “Coast Is Clear” for both artists to stage a takeover of the music game in 2014.
A live rip of this glorious track hit the blogosphere a little over a year ago, and it was recorded while Skrillex and Ellie Goulding were still dating. The track was originally titled “Lovers” but naturally due to the break up the title was changed to “Because.” After hearing Skrillex play this song out live, they broke up the next week, and I felt like this was never going to see the light of day. So to say the least I’m ecstatic that Ellie just played this in her “Goodnight Valentine Mix” for Annie Mac, and hopefully it will be released soon. Cheers.
