[Chill] Snakehips – Money On Me (feat. Anderson .Paak)

SNAKEHIPS
Money On Me ft. Anderson .Paak

Snakehips and Anderson .Paak are two artists who have seemingly worked with everyone. Last year saw the UK production duo of Snakehips making hits with artists from Chance the Rapper to Syd (of The Internet), while everything-man Anderson .Paak teamed up with countless rappers and producers on his way to signing with Dr. Dre. So, when a collab between the two popped up in our Soundcloud feeds, we can’t say we were surprised but that didn’t make us any less excited. On “Money On Me,” Snakehips craft a smooth, low-end atmosphere over which .Paak delivers one of his most chilled-out vocal performances. Even as the production fills out, the song doesn’t lose its smooth, summery vibe. Warm up with this tune above and make sure to check out Anderson .Paak’s Malibu if you haven’t yet.

SNAKEHIPS
All My Friends (Ft. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper)

Snakehips have been making waves over the past couple of years, establishing themselves as one of the most talented production duos to emerge from the UK through a steady stream of fantastic remixes as well as some incredible original content that includes collaborations with Tory Lanez, Sinead Harnett and Kaleem Taylor. Their latest outing however has all the right ingredients to make for a surefire hit, as they’ve landed possibly the biggest features of their careers thus far in Tinashe and Chance The Rapper for a new song called “All My Friends”. Snakehips are no strangers to crafting catchy hooks, yet “All My Friends” might be their most easily accessible tune to date, featuring an exceptionally relatable chorus that’s bound to echo throughout your brain for at least a few moments after the song has ended. We expect this to become the ultimate anthem during those late Saturday nights out on the town just as everyone prepares to pack up and head home. You can stream the track above, but make sure to snag yourself a copy on iTunes as well.

Flight Facilities
Heart Attack feat. Owl Eyes (Snakehips Remix)

For readers who have followed The Music Ninja over the past few years, there will undoubtedly be a great deal of familiarity to the sounds of UK based production duo, Snakehips. As a bona fide favorite among the staff, we have covered numerous releases by the PBR&B/electronic pair such as “Gone,” “Dímelo,” “Forever,” “On & On,” and “Wanderlust.”

Snakehips latest remix is a unique take on the original of another electronic duo, Flight Facilities. “Heart Attack,” which came out late last year, is an emotional tune that immerses the listener in a feeling of solitude thanks to the lyrical talents of the soulful Owl Eyes.

In their latest remix, Snakehips have done a remarkable job of matching the sentiments of the lyrics (But you’re so far away… Searching for a heart another world away // How far have I got to move… You’re all I need and now if you knew) with the feelings conveyed by the melody. Having kept with the theme of companionship, the remix maintains the subtlety and refine of the original while also creating a markedly familiar synth-based production in line with their previous works.

A reprieve from the constant wave of over-produced future bass, “Heart Attack” is a track music lovers will be playing on repeat for a few days upon first listen. Enjoy streaming the track above and find all of Snakehips’ work over on Soundcloud.

Gone (Feat. Syd)

UK production duo Snakehips were easily one of our favorite acts of 2014 putting out consistently smooth remixes infused with their electronic, R&B-leaning stylings. As they prepare to release a much-anticipated EP, they dropped a new single this morning featuring silky smooth vocals from Odd Future-affiliate Syd of post-soul band The Internet. As its name suggest, “Gone” is a ballad about consumption and love set to a perfectly wavy instrumental that, when combined with Syd’s hypnotic vocals, evokes feelings of intoxication. Give this one a spin above–Snakehips’s Forever (Pt. II) drops March 9th on Hoffman West.

Sunday Night Soul [Vol. 23]

This is a special day folks, and I’m sure plenty of you already know why. While we won’t explicitly spell it out for you, we hope many of you celebrated the occasion in your own special ways. However, there is one matter of business left to take care of, and that’s making sure you end your night on the right note, with some Sunday Night Soul.

While we expected to have plenty more holiday “anthems” to provide you with tonight, we still believe we have the perfect lineup to zone out to, and help lull you into dreamland. We can’t help but feel a special connection to this week’s crop of tracks, but maybe that’s because a few of these already helped carry us through our day as well.

Sunni Colón was certainly a popular man this week, as his track “Temple” was remixed by three of our favorite producers, staRo, Esta and Hasta. You already know the drill folks, and if you’re not high for this right now, we’re sure you’ll be feeling something once you reach the end of this one (and we don’t mean the munchies).
