[NEW] Steve Aoki – Rage the Night Away (Feat. Waka Flocka Flame)

Steve Aoki
Rage The Night Away feat Waka Flocka Flame

Waka Flocka Flame isn’t one to shy away from doing something out of the box and unordinary musically, so his recent feature on the Steve Aoki single “Rage the Night Away” comes as less of a surprise and more of a welcomed collaboration. Bringing his turnt up personality and live presence to the track, Waka’s high-energy meshes well with Aoki’s pulsating, trap production. This is an infectious listen from start to finish that only gets better with each listen. If you can’t get hyped listening to this party track then you’re probably either missing a pulse or deaf. This cut will be featured on Aoki’s upcoming project Neon Future, dropping later this year.

[Fresh] Flux Pavilion – Freeway EP

A new EP by one of our favorite bleached blonde producers from the UK?

Count me in Flux, count me in.

Yesterday, Flux Pavilion dropped his new EP ‘Freeway’, 5 tracks that all show just how diverse of an artist he truly is by the beats, the melodies and who he collaborates with to make this EP one for the books. Teaming up with Steve Aoki for ‘Steve French’ then pairing his intense beats with Dillon Francis’ light hearted electronic flow for ‘I’m The One’, Flux shows he is the man of the hour. Flux’s song ‘Gold Love’ with the vocals of miss Rosie Oddie is one of my favorites. Hard and intense electronic beats, what we have come to know and love from Flux, drives this song with the high pitched, unique vocals of Oddie. Then there is ‘Freeway’, a different sound for Flux, where he has decided to slow down his intensity and flow the electronic melodies from one measure to the next. The song tells the journey, a musical journey and an intimate journey to find oneself. Flux also changes it up with the last song on the EP ‘Mountains And Molehills’ featuring Turin Brakes. Taking on an almost rock sound mixed in with the right electronic twists, this song feels like something out of a video game.

Another grand EP from the man FP, keep rocking you dirty blonde UK man.

[Moombahton] Steve Aoki – Control Freak ft. Kay and Blaqstarr (Dillon Francis Remix)

Zany Los Angeles based producer Dillon Francis has graced us with another moombahtastic remix. “Control Freak,” a track that originally felt like a Justice track without the added distortion, has successfully been transformed into a moombahton track that still retains an Ed Bangeresque vibe…while being incredibly filthy. The syncopated rhythm, obscenely grimy bass, and beatific bridge help this track transcend the moombahton genre. What Dillon Francis is doing right now in Moombah is so uniquely him, that I think we might need to create a new genre that’s just his own.

Keep doing what you’re doing Dillon, this remix goes hard.

This track was released 06/26 on Ultra Records and can be purchased here.

[Epic Collab] Steve Aoki ft. Kid Cudi & Travis Barker – Cudi The Kid (Lucky Date Remix)

Steve Aoki took his hype man tactics up about 12 notches this year at Ultra Music Festival by crowd boating and throwing a cake in a lucky girls face at the drop of his latest track “Emergency”. People that hate on him for not focusing on DJing all the time miss the point – this man is a showman and a producer to be reckoned with. His latest single “Cudi The Kid” is nothing short of epic with vocals from Kid Cudi himself and drums from LA punk rocker Travis Barker. If that weren’t enough there are already a slew of remixes coming down the pipeline like this machine-step one from Lucky Date. All hail the electro kingpin Aoki!

[Fresh] ReBlogging (some of) The Best Music of the Week

Many people do not have the “luxury” to listen to music all day like we do (which is probably a good thing! lol). We visit a lot of music blogs, browse over music blog aggregators like mog.com, hypem.com and elbo.ws. Looking at the way people communicate through twitter we realized that one of the best ways to share and discover music is to retweet someone else’s twitter message. For those of you who do not use twitter, “retweeting” aka RT is basically repeating someone else’s message as our own but still giving credit to the source.aoki

Our goal is to expose you to the best songs out there, no matter if we discover it, or our music blogger friends do!

This remix by Steve Aoki got a HUGE amount of love on hypem.com for the first week of December. Blogged by Disco Punk, Steve used Kid Cudi’s Pursuit of Happiness and transformed it into a much more techno sounding version adding a standard bassline and synthesize melodies. A great remix for any dj to have.

Covered by The Pop Cop on their Live coverage of Regina Spektor @ Academy, Glasgow describing how she was able take control of the situation after an over enthusiastic fan landed a t-shirt on her face. Her responce “I’m OK. I’m glad it was a soft landing,” really demonstrate her sweet personality.

One of the firsts blogs to pick this song right away was our friends at jp917 thought it was really the Spanish blog No Naci en Manchester that was able to promote the higher quality album version.

hot-chipHot Chip’s new single that is dropping early 2010 shares names with the album itself. “One Life Stand is an electronic pop track with hints of electronic disco that almost turns into Caribbean music with its Calypso melodies after the first couple of verses.

Soooo Fresssshhhh. First time I listened to Jurassic 5 and loved it right away. The classy lyrics, jazzy background and calm tone makes them stand out of the hip/hop genre. One Sweet Song turned me to it and now its hard to turn away.
