[Chill] The xx – Do You Mind (Derek Walin Remix)

Intricate, mellow, but still maintaining a sense of power and confidence, Derek Walin has turned The xx’s “Do You Mind” into an electronic dreamscape. He meshes the subdued vocals of The xx with a club-style beat, forming a tune that you can sit back and relax to or bump in an end-of-the-night club. The track, along with many of Derek Walin’s other works, contains elements that uncontrollably induce some head bobbing. Fortunately, he’s offering this track as a free download off of his soundcloud along with many of his other works; I highly recommend giving them a listen.

The XX – Infinity (Bruno Be Remix)

Yes we know. Raving about a The Xx remix is so 2010 but we have to give credit where credit is due. Brazilian producer Bruno Be has created a very warm and minimalistic remix that stays very true to the original. This is a soft and relaxing song that will ease the hangover from the weekend.

The XX – Intro (Azad Right Freestyle) [Hip/hop]

Hip/hop was conceived as an emotional genre. The core of every rap and every rhyme prior to its acceptance into mainstream music was about portraying some sense of vulnerability. Through honest unfiltered poetry, hip/hop artist are able to express their observations about the communities around them, the trouble in their lives and the aspiration for a better tomorrow. These core principles are still present today but within the race of becoming the next big club hit, the substance in every word expressed has faded away. Los Angeles based emcee Azad Right is no stranger to the struggles of the grind required to make it in this business but through his genuine thought-out verses he makes it seem so easy. Rhyming over one of the most popular indie tracks of all time might not be original but with a flawless execution, Azad Right pulls off a freestyle that makes you take notice. We have heard countless remixes and mixtapes using The Xx’s “Intro” throughout the many months it has been released yet Azad is one of the few artists that gives it justice.

[Electronic] The XX – Night Time (Synkro Remix)

20111023-223527.jpg

Acclaimed indie act The XX just keep on getting remixed, revealing new sides of their tracks, many of which have now become favourites. Mancunian producer Synkro has reworked ‘Night Time’ into a sparse house anthem, creating space for Romy Madley-Croft’s half-whispered vocals to take centre stage and bewitch us. Another top-notch remix to add to The XX’s growing collection.

[Mash-Up] Jj – I’m The One/Money On My Mind + Let Them

Jj’s “I’m the one/ Money on my MInd” is soft yet hardcore stuff. The intro is the familiar sound of Intro from The XX, so its already awesome, add some Lil Wayne and there’s harmony within two different genres. Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander (jj) took on Lil Wayne’s rough and dirty “Money on my Mind” and made it a dreamscape with their signature vocal stylings. And although its short you wonder if you just went to sleep with money on your mind. (HA i know its corny… SO?)

And lets not forget “Let them” that references TI’s “Let them Talk”, we realize that Jj can turn any rap song into a melancholy tune. You think they mind?

[Remix] The XX – Stars (LAZRtag Remix)

I have a priority list on my inbox. I have labeled certain email address from producers and dj’s so I can know right away when they have new remixes out and chosen to send a link our way. The guys from LAZRtag are in my priority list for the simple reason that they have been consistent throughout everything they have released. This California duo recently released a new remix from Stars off The Xx‘s self-titled debut album. The new remixes is heavily rooted with the xx’s minimalism yet still more appealing to the dance scene. Enjoy!
