The Trap Dojo #32 + TMN Premiere Zomboy – Here to stay (TastyTreat Remix)

’Zomboy – Here To Stay (TastyTreat Remix) FREE DOWNLOAD’

We have a very special treat this week kicking off the Trap Dojo. We’re premiering the sick new track from TastyTreat, a remix of Zomboy‘s track “Here to stay”. Featuring UK Dancehall star Lady Chann, this one starts off fairly minimal, with a heavy subbass line and a smooth horns section before Channs lyrics build up to a dramatic drop of carefully organized chaotic synth wobbles. The second drop is less chaotic and has alot of that heavy grinding trap flavor before the horns take us out. TastyTreat just signed to Bird Peterson‘s Teenage Riot Records and has a great looking year ahead of him, especially if he keeps releasing tracks as exciting as this. Go show him some love on Facebook to get this one for free.

Following up, Kid Womp takes on my favorite song from TNGHT and absolutely destroys it. Keeping that minimal style of the original, Womp rearanges the chimes into something so similar yet so different from the original. The next couple tracks are from the new Brillz album “Twonk”. The first one is a huge party starter, sure to get the dancefloor jumping, while “Smashi Tup” will have your head banging with the heavy bass lines, and has a really cool horns section sure to get your feet shuffling. Bird Peterson is taking his game a little further with this glitchy track. Ookay has a couple songs on the Dojo this week, first up, what i’m assuming is an April fools joke with “Oorah”, just listen to it all the way through and you’ll understand why. The other track is the totally serious “Star Wars”, starting off with a trapped out version of the Mos Eisley Cantina song, at just the moment you would expect Han to shoot Greedo, the whole room is destroyed by lasers. The second half of the song is the Imperial March that will have you letting out your darkside on the dancefloor when it drops. Continuing our Space theme is the trancy Proletariats remix of some Cosmic Gate. The rest of the list is filled with with Trap bangers and trapped out hip hop, before Shackles takes us back to space to chill things out a little bit before Kastle really crushes it with the vibes for an emotional finish.

[Trap] FLOSSTRADAMUS ✖ DJ SLIINK – CROWD CTRL

FLOSSTRADAMUS ✖ DJ SLIINK
CROWD CTRL

☢☢☢ Can you dig it! ☢☢☢ The Hoodie Boyz Flosstradamus hook up with the Jersey Club DJ Sliink for this massive banger. Sampling the cult classic film “The Warriors“, this scene is the famous speech made by Cyrus, leader of New York’s largest gang, the Gramercy Riffs. He unites all of the city’s gangs, including the Warriors, who would have a hard time getting home, to take over the city “One borough at a time”. Floss and Sliink throw down a Trunk popping bassline with some of the hardest trap style scratches imaginable over his iconic words that will have you swinging like a Baseball Fury.

(Spoiler)Fortunately, they didn’t include the end of his speech where Cyrus is assassinated and The Warriors are framed. This one drops on April 2nd as part of the “Nomads” release on Fools Gold Records.

The Trap Dojo #30

This 30th edition of the Trap Dojo is coming at you with a ton of incredible tracks this week, kicking off with Kayzo & Slander‘s massive Showtek remix. This has that great big-room/festival sound that I’m sure even Showtek themselves would play live and blow the roof off. Next, our friends from Germany, Donkong with a track off their new EP, and another track later in the list. “Jaws” contains exactly the buildup you would expect from a song with that name, but drops into some bouncy trap with more dubstep elements slowly surfacing throughout. Cesqeaux comes with more of that heavy big-room sound, and Smookie Illson flips some classic female dancefloor hip-hop into a beast of a stuttering track with some crazy lyric chops. Virtually the entire second half of the list is filled with Latin and island influences,  starting with Spenda C with some reggae and No Doubt lyrics. There are some remixes of classic merengue, spanish euro-house and finally a couple of double-time moombahtrap songs to really get your feet moving. Finally the list finishes off with a smooth remix of A$AP Rocky from Ray Complex.

[Dubstep] MUST DIE! X ETC!ETC! – Panic Attack ft. Anna Yvette

We all know ETC!ETC! for his killer Moombahton and Trap hits, but before trap music took over the world, he and his friend MUST DIE! created this beautiful Dubstep track which is finally getting a release on Subhuman. Anna Yvette‘s soft lyrics guide the breakdowns before a massive filthy bassline crushes it. ETC!ETC! says that this is the only Dubstep song he’s ever composed, but with any luck, this may lead to more dub from the trap heavyweight.

The Trap Dojo #29

Welcome to the first Trap Dojo on the revamped site. Our first track is an incredibly sexy remix of Frank Ocean‘s “Super Rich Kids”. Bird Peterson makes this song smoother than the cocoa butter you`ll be spreading on your girls back while listening to it (or visa versa). Next, Mr. Vega hits us with a ton of sharp bars from several different rappers on this vocal remix of his track “I’m Livin”. ETC. ETC. and Brillz bring you back to late 80s Harlem with their own take on the New Jack Swing. This is a track you can definitely do the (real) Harlem Shake to. If you aren’t familiar with Rustie then take note. This Scottish DJ has been huge in the UK Dubstep and Grime scene since back in 07, and this track is absolutely infectious. With this remix of Chief Keef‘s “I Don’t Like”, Willy Joy shows how he’s able to turn a hard hitting rap anthem into a dance floor banger, switching back and forth between the original instrumentals and his crazy remix, this time with a hype Moombah flip. The end of the list contains a great lovetrap mashup from Watapachi with some smooth lyrics from 50 Cent, some Keys N Krates, a trio of musicians who actually perform their songs live, a real treat in the modern EDM age, and some Future Screw, from the master of Future Screw, Trill Scott Heron.

[Mad Decent] Major Lazer – LAZER STRIKES BACK Vol. 1

If you were looking forward to the new Major Lazer album as much as we were, I’m sure you were disappointed to find out that it was delayed until next month. Of course that doesn’t mean we go empty handed because they have just posted the first volume of LAZER STRIKES BACK , a three part series of remixes. Jack Beats throws his signature sound over the Major Lazer – Flux Pavillion bass monster “Jah No Partial”. YellowClaw‘s “Get Free Money Remix” was in our very first Trap Dojo. The Hardstyle influenced “Original Don” gets an old school Techno feel with a huge emotional electro finale. The final song is the Major Lazer extended remix of Hot Chip‘s “Look At Where We Are”. [Chill Trap] The Postal Service – Such Great Heights (Team Bayside High Bootleg)

After releasing one of the heaviest trap songs we’ve ever heard, a remix of Pantera’s “Walk” featured on this weeks Trap Dojo, Chicago duo Team Bayside High show a completely different side with a beautifully chill remix of one of our favorite songs by The Postal Service. Their Bootleg of “Such Great Heights” features heavy soothing bass lines, chimes and whistles, perfect for sitting back, spacing out and thinking of warm summer nights. After remixing Metal and Indie, who know’s whats next for these talented producers, because clearly nothing is off limits for them to remix and absolutely destroy in any way they want.
