[Dubstep] The Fight Of My Life ft. Pusha T (Zeds Dead Remix)

Almost a month after they teased us with a preview, Zeds Dead have finally released the full majesty of their remix of Colin Munroe‘s The Fight Of My Life featuring Pusha T.  Their style has become so recognizable with such smooth melodious sections that build into some of the most heart-pounding bass grooves you’ll hear.  Nothing beats listening to this jam on a proper sound system where you can capture the subtleties of the dismal strings and the chorus that dwells ever present in the background. Zeds Dead baby!

[Fresh] 3LAU – Dance Floor Filth 2

It’s no secret how we feel about mash-ups around here, but dammit, 3LAU just brings something so fresh to the table that we can’t help ourselves. Merely one year ago the now 21-year-old college student Justin AKA 3LAU started topping the Hypem charts with meticulously designed mashers like Dubsex (My personal favorite), and now we’ll have the distinct pleasure of diving into his mind with an interview at Global Dance Festival this weekend (Stay tuned).

His latest effort, Dance Floor Filth 2 is what you’d expect from a seasoned veteran. More than just mash-ups, each track is a synergistic medley of pieces of so many of your favorite songs that are effortlessly fused into a masterpiece. Peep a couple of my faves from the bunch below, and don’t forget to snag the whole EP HERE. If you find yourself in Morrison, CO this weekend be sure to catch 3LAU’s set as I can assure it will blow your mind.

Nine Inch Nails – Survivalism (deadmau5 remix thing)

Let me preface this by saying that I never thought it was even possible to make Nine Inch Nails sound any darker. I stand corrected. Deadmau5 seems to be on a rock music kick recently considering his remix of Rope by Foo Fighters. With Survivalism, what was once an industrial rock staple, Deadmau5 stripped down into a melancholy testament to his multifaceted talents. There is seriously nothing EDM about this remix. Is it strange…yes. Am I OK with it…hell yes.

[Hip-Hop] Tarik & Mike Stud – You Don’t Know Me

Let’s be honest people…money and sex rule the world, and that’s just the way it is. It’s so refreshing though to hear those diamond-in-the-rough up and coming rhymers that haven’t yet been tainted by the YOLO attitude that over-saturates today’s rap music and pop culture. New Yorker Tarik and Mike Stud from Rhode Island deliver just the right amount of realness in this upbeat head bobber. Shout out to Augustana on the sample.

[Drum & Bass] Rusko – Thunder feat. Bonnie McKee (Tantrum Desire Remix)

Known for their huge D&B sound, London native production/DJ duo Tantrum Desire took on the challenge of remixing one of dubstep’s greatest. Rusko‘s Thunder just got a charge of intensity as Tantrum Desire bumped up the tempo and added in some blatantly upbeat drum patterns. Bonnie McKee’s vocals remain prominent throughout, but the vibe of the remix is completely altered and unique making it incomparable to the original. This is definitely a blessing these days with so many remix/mash-up artists who won’t dare to try something new.

[Moombah] Dillon Francis & Diplo ft. Porter Robinson – Change (5 & A Dime Bootleg)

Take some of the hottest tracks from 3 of today’s hottest producers, mash them up, and what do you get? Normally, absolute garbage. Sometimes things just aren’t meant to go together. Not the case for the newest bootleg by Philly producer 5 & A Dime. Dillon Francis, Diplo, and Porter Robinson all have such unique and eclectic styles, but somehow 5 & A Dime manages to capture the individuality of each artist while seamlessly blending them into one massive Moombah banger. #BASSMOB
