[Prog House] Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike – Wakanda

A few days ago Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike released yet another incredible progressive house track.  After realeasing “Madness” not to long ago this track is an impressive addition.  “Wakanda” is a bass heavy prog house track with some very interesting chopped vocals mixed in.  The track itself is almost more electro house than anything but has a rate that’s closer to prog house, which ends up making a big hitter of a song.  The vocals that are mixed in are definitely on the more unusual side and have been altered quite a bit but, adds to the song in a great way.  You can sample it below or buy it here.

[Electro] Ellie Goulding – Stay Awake (prod by Madeon)

Ellie Goulding just released her sophmore album, the undeniably fantastic Halcyon. Included on the record is this bonus track with production by none other than Madeon. Because of his presence, the song has a great electrconic vibe going on. He’s brought phenomenal heavy electro bass lines and chords to the song, while Goulding delivers beautiful vocals as always. The two of them have blended their skills so well in this production and it shows. So check it out below and don’t forget to purchase Halcyon!

Zedd – Clarity (Album Review)

Zedd‘s newest album Clarity is definitely one of the greatest albums of its kind this year. Track after track proves to have a phenomenal quality. Each hold its own weight and doesn’t sound as though it was just thrown into the tracklisting as filler, which isn’t something you often see in electronic albums. Usually there are three or four solid hits, while the rest feels like generic electro. However, Clarity is in no way like this.

If you want to invest in an electronic album that will cover a lot of ground genre-wise and will light up a dance floor, this is definitely it, hands down. The spectrum of electronic music genres on it is pretty large, with many of the songs representing the different genres very well. From heavy electro house tracks like “Codec” and “Stache” to lighter progressive pieces such as “Lost At Sea” and “Follow You Down,” and everything in between, Zedd knows when and how to use vocals and chords perfectly. My favorites are “Spectrum” and “Fall Into The Sky” featuring Ellie Goulding (how can you go wrong with that?).

Clarity flows so well that it can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter what genre of electronic music they like or even if they don’t care for it at all. Zedd has showed a tremendous amount of skill with this debut and he’s only going to get better. You can stream some samples below and pick up the album on iTunes here. It will be available on Beatport on October 9th.

[Progressive House] Spektrem – Sugar (Original Mix)

Recently the DC trio Spektrem released their second song “All Too Soon,” which was a killer progressive house track. This week they released the full version of their newest track “Sugar,” another phenomenal progressive house tune. Like their previous track, it has spot-on vocals with a fantastic prog melody and rhythm. “Sugar” also has a great incorporation of electronic chords throughout. Again Spektrem produces gold in the realm of progressive house. So see what you think, then download it and blair it.

[Electro House] Dirty Disco Youth – Drive EP

Dirty Disco Youth has released his newest EP Drive. The EP dropped yesterday on Dim Mak Records and is composed of three key tracks “Drive,” “Crossroads,” and “We Own The World”. “Drive” is a great big house electro house track with a great melody that is heavy enough for those looking for some heavier electro house. “Crossroads” is a much grittier electro house jam with a solid bass line and electro chords cutting in and out. Finally, “We Own The World” is a much more upbeat electro track that plays out so well and has an awesome rhythm and bass line. The EP itself includes an array of remixes of all the tracks with a variety of styles. It’s out now on Beatport so feel free to look it over. It’s also streaming on Soundcloud.
