When Hermit first opens up, I couldn’t help but picture floating down a peaceful river in the Ozarks. Then the words “Squeal like a pig” came to mind, and that pleasant image was immediately ruined. Damn you Deliverance.

I digress. The Wilderness of Manitoba reminds me of a Torontonian Band of Horses. They’re every bit as diversely talented when it comes to instrumentals, but also feature a coed harmony that’s truly serene. The harmonica and lazy guitar strumming are the perfect canvas for this delicate vocal structure. While the band is young, they put forth maturity in their song writing that is something to be appreciated.

They have a new EP coming out soon – make sure to preorder it here.
