Formed back in 2010, California band Branches are developing into quite the folk rock group, slowly carving out their own corner amidst like-minded artists Mumford & Sons and Freelance Whales. Their latest album, Thou Art The Dream, released earlier this year, is full of riddling banjo, affecting vocals, and vivid imagery. The songs wince, but still have whimsy, are poignant without ever being melodramatic. There’s a certain authenticity about their music that makes it irresistibly appealing. Check out two tracks from the album below. Stream & purchase the entire thing via their Bandcamp page.
