Seven Lions a.k.a Jeff Montalvo has really made a name for himself in the past couple of months, recently releasing remixes of “The Great Divide” by Velvetine and Paul van Dyk’s “I Don’t Deserve You”. His subdued yet quietly powerful sound replete with ethereal, wispy vocals has made him unique and distinct in a sea of production-happy Skrillex wannabes. Today Days To Come, a majestic 4-song EP was released off OWSLA and it CERTAINLY does not disappoint.

The first track of the album’s namesake “Days To Come” showcases Fiora’s feathery and haunting vocal abilities while keeping production to a brilliant minimum and retaining enough bass to be called dubstep. “The Truth” draws heavily from trance influences and exemplifies the primal and simplistic nature of the genre but does not fail to offer a heavy driving bass line and some warp. The fusion of trance and dubstep is effortless and damn near perfect.

My favorite track has to be “Fractals”, a song that will literally punch you in the face with an epically aggressive bassline and a mesmerizing lead synth that will have you pressing repeat over and over. “She Was” featuring Birds of Paradise is hurray! a free download that was released a couple days ago and truly epitomizes melodic trance-step perfection.
