Skizzy Mars
Too Ill (prod. Michael Keenan)

Skizzy Mars has definitely been on top of his game lately. After releasing the much heralded Phases nearly a year ago, Skiz had a relatively quiet 2013. While it’s easy to forget about artists during their brief lulls, we know Skiz spent his time in the lab wisely, waiting to return with a vengeance. Well, Skizzy Season is officially upon us now, as the 20 year old emcee has teamed up with producer Michael Keenan to string together a slew of smooth releases over the last few weeks.

His latest entry in that series, “Too Ill,” definitely lives up to its billing. Sampling the Snakehips remix of BANKS‘ “Warm Water,” (still one of our favorites at TMN), “Too Ill” features the NYC native playing to his strengths, utilizing his carefree, charismatic flow to weave together an intriguing narrative, while showcasing his penchant for crafting catchy hooks. Skizzy’s upcoming mixtape, Pace, is set to drop next week on March 4th, and we can’t wait to hear what else he has in store for us.
