Earlier this week indie folk troubadour Dan Mangan and his 2011 record Oh Fortune picked up three Western Canadian Music Awards: Songwriter of the Year, Rock Album of the Year and Independent Album of the Year. With that said, it’s safe to assume this newly surfaced song, “We Want To Be Pleasantly Surprised, Not Expectedly Let Down” is a winner. And with its rich, sprawling, rockin’ nature, complete with Mangan’s gravelly, pained vocals, the track — which is an outtake from the Oh Fortune sessions — sure is deserving of attention (and probably a trophy of sorts).

The song, along with a cover of Yukon Blonde‘s song “Stairway,” will appear on a 7″ called Radicals, out October 16th via Arts & Crafts.
