Baby Alpaca — yes, cue those fawning “aww’s” — is a new, New York based group led by singer-songwriter Chris Kittrell. “Sea of Dreams”, the first single from their forthcoming Baby Alpaca EP (out June 25th via Atlas Chair Records), pretty much sounds and feels like what its title might visually conjures up. The sleek guitars and tingling piano paired up with his sultry, but subtle vocals create a dreamy, slow-burning ambiance that might be likened to the effortless experience of drifting atop calm, deep blue, warm waters. If you let it, the track (which reminds me a bit of The xx‘s intimacy and rawness) might just engulf you whole — and you’ll have no problem giving in to that sinking feeling.
