If feel-good music is your thing, Kidswaste definitely got you covered. This beautiful remix of French production group Point Point‘s “Au Revoir” will put you through a dreamy roller coaster ride. The fellow French producer incorporated guitar and brass melodies to an already chilled-out tune, and brought the feels with its jazzy melody.

On top of the remix, Kidswaste also announced the release of Spleen, which is a 5-track EP that features some of the best up-and-coming vocalists in the scene. We actually got a chance to sit down with Kidswaste to chat about this awesome project that he prides himself in working on. Check out the tracklist below and the interview after the jump!

TMN: Tell us about the idea behind this EP. Where did you draw inspirations from?

Writing this EP felt like a journey in itself. Originally, the EP was going to be called Circle of Sounds which was the idea of “kidswasting” different genres, varying from trap to jazz. I held this idea for the longest time and while I felt like it could be cool, the more I worked on it the less it felt like I was truly representing myself. I lost a ton of projects, had to restart… Eventually, my style kind of evolved and took me somewhere else, which is the reason why I started Spleen. It seemed easier to restart from scratch.

TMN: We are big fans of the vocalists you’ve worked with on this EP. Can you tell us about them, and what fans can expect from the project?

I feel grateful to have worked with some vocalists that I really respect and consider friends like Chelsea Cutler, Khai and Trace. They’re all putting out really genuine and honest music in their own lanes, and I really want to thank them all for being a part of this. They’ve helped me bring my ideas to life and the end result is this piece of art which is probably the best project I’ve ever been a part of. I achieved everything I wanted and managed to make something new and meaningful. This is what I always wanted Kidswaste to be and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

TMN: Spleen, is commonly known as a human organ – grotesque and undesirable. Is there a special meaning to it being the title of the EP?

The name “Spleen” comes from French literature. Invented and popularized by the poet Charles Baudelaire, the “spleen” is a state of pensive sadness and melancholy. The title here allows me to pay respect to French culture and it feels really reflective of the themes in the EP.

TMN: Last but not least, congrats on the new Point Point remix! We’re definitely a huge fan. Can you tell us a little bit about how the remix came about?

Well, Point Point hit me up a couple of weeks ago asking me if I wanted to remix a track from their Family Portrait EP. I’m a huge fan of theirs, I obviously said yes and immediately picked ‘Au Revoir’. I tried to keep the essence of the original song, and wrote a sort of sad electronic ballad. It turned out really well, I’m very happy with the result.
