[Electronic] dog logic – higher order functions LP

Every so often a project comes along that is revolutionary at its core. Today we’re sharing one such project, the debut album from dog logic, which is made up by Andy formerly of The M Machine. After leaving the trio to pursue more technological endeavors, he ended up still making music that has culminated into the higher order functions LP.

Not only are the songs on this project diverse and separated from the usual sounds everybody is used to, but the implementation of the project is unique. dog logic has put forth an interactive experience where producers and other creatives can take samples from the project for remixes and other things. This open-source database is likely something we’ll continue to see happen with more and more projects. It takes steps forward like this to make the changes in both music and tech.

[Electronic] Mosie – Tangerine

If you’re looking for something funky to spice up your weekend, then look no further than Mosie‘s debut studio album Tangerine. Now when we say funky, we do mean funky in the tradition musical sense, as well as the wacky non-traditional sense. Mosie does his own thing on this project and it really shows.

Tangerine is one of the best albums of the year so far, complete with fourteen incredible singles with enough old school flare to bring you back into the 70’s. With his retro infused singles, Mosie brings us back to a different decade while breathing modern undertones through his work. From start to finish this is a nostalgic adventure for all ages. Mosie has us aching for this on vinyl, but we’ve added it to our digital library – and you should too.

Signed to Warner Music Norway, she’s been on a hot streak releasing singles and captivating her home country and the rest of the world. Instead of keeping with singles, she’s gone and released her debut full length album, Turn On The Lights.

The twelve song project features hits such as “Arigato” and “Blackout” that captivated us when they first hit the web. Her fusion of pop with electronic is something that permeates the album and although pop is making the transition to a more EDM friendly sound, Julie soars above the crowd of noise with her magical, dynamic records. It’s not pop for popularity’s sake; it’s amazing music that just happens to fit the bill. Turn On The Lights is stocked full of incredible tunes without any moments of lackluster listening. SANiTY – East Coast G House Compilation [TMN Premiere]

We’ve got quite the treat today. In the dojo we’re premiering a huge compilation album curated – and partly created – by SANiTY. In honor of the producer’s forte he has put together a ten track project called East Coast G House and you get the first listen to it here!

What makes this project interesting is not only that it’s a collection of incredible house records from talented producers, but it’s basically two projects in one. The first half of the LP is made up of original collaborations between house producers and emcees all from the East Coast, including works from SANiTY himself, SOUND.E, Kapo and GORILLUH. For the second half, SANiTY collected works that are all sample based. Together each half is strong on its own, but when they come together to form the entire compilation their power and groove exponentially grows. Listen through and have a funky Tuesday!

[Pop] DEV – I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’ LP

Just over a month ago on September 8th, the California native DEV released the follow up to her Bittersweet July projects. Since then she’s come out with a few singles and remixes with producers, but now we get a fully fledged LP entitled I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’.

Complete with eleven songs and two short audio clips, this project sees DEV take her signature style to new heights. The introductory single “Have It All” really sets the tone nicely for the rest of the album, with a smooth tone and elements from numerous styles of music that are highlighted throughout the rest of the LP. DEV fluidly delivers a mix of R&B, pop, hip-hop and electronic for a multi-layered expression that is more than a simple collection of records. They all weave together so that I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’ is more of a detailed tale than a normal musical album.

As with any artist that has mega hits in their catalog, people are always going to compare the new those songs, but to do that is unfair. DEV has grown as an artist and although she there’s a similar appeal to her hits, she’s grown as an artist and it shows in her work. She still can shine just as bright with magnificent pop works like “Skinny Dippin'” and the crossover treat “My Way” that are two of our favorites off the LP. Other notable singles include “All I Wanna Do,” “Cloud9” and “Bouncy.” Overall it’s a strong album that will take you by surprise. We recommend you get your copy of I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’ today!

PS, if you get a chance to see DEV live, do it!
