[Electronic] BASECAMP – In Stone (VALENTINE Remix)

BASECAMP
In Stone (VALENTINE Remix)

It’s not February yet, but VALENTINE is what we have on our minds. Apparently, the same thing could be said for OWLSA, who backed the mysterious producer for an official remix of “In Stone” by BASECAMP.

One of the things we love about this one is it doesn’t exactly fit nicely into a specific genre. It’s sort of a few different things, but doesn’t really fit snug anywhere. Everything from the sound design to the song’s composition is done at an expert level. VALENTINE’s remix stylistically isn’t straightforward, but also the songwriting isn’t either, as the track develops from beginning to end without any moment of stale sound. It’s fresh, clean, and totally awesome. If you’re not familiar with VALENTINE, better get started now.

Shudder (Twinztrack Remix)

If you haven’t realized it yet, we here at TMN have been infatuated with Basecamp‘s “Shudder” from the very first moment it first blessed our ears early last month. Not only have we found ourselves zoning out to the original on a regular basis, but the countless remixes that have followed have captured our constant attention as well. Now French electronic duo Twinztrack have decided to throw their hats in the ring, providing us with yet another fascinating remix. This latest rendition finds the hypnotic vocals from the original embedded in a swirling palette of engrossing synths and skittering percussion that help add a playfully melodic touch to the tune. Remember that zoning out sensation we mentioned earlier? Yeah, try resisting it from the moment you press play. We promise it’s not possible. This is a song that will most definitely captivate you.

There’s no word on whether this will be available for download or purchase in the near future, but we won’t blame you for immediately wanting a copy for yourself.

[Indie Electronic] BASECAMP – Shudder

BASECAMP
Shudder

Since their single hit “Emmanuel“, Nashville trio BASECAMP has once again proven that genres don’t define how artists make their music. It was difficult to categorize this track because of all the different elements put into it. From the house beat and repetitive wave sounds in the background, to the chillwave-like synth and a voice similar to John Legend’s, “Shudder” stands its place as one of the most distinctively sounding songs by BASECAMP. The soulful vocals magically capture the R&B melody, and together with the joyful yet complex beat, we have a track so tranquil and laid back that you’ll never get tired of listening to. The downtempo breakdown towards the end catches your attention with its intentionally clouded bass and background noises, but at the same time remains its glitchy beat with abrupt pauses.

There are so many good things we can say about this track. We’ll just let you be the judge of it. With a new EP coming Fall 2014, BASECAMP is definitely one to watch for all you music lovers.
