Fresh off of his sold-out debut gig in London, Kygo has been slowly starting to assert himself as one of the world’s electronic giants. It seems with every passing release the downtempo, melodic dance artist rockets to the top of every blog aggregator or college dance radio chart within hours, and we think his latest rework will be no different. Again, our cruise director has taken an act who on paper has no business even being mentioned within the confines of the dance world, and flips the tune for a beautiful spin through his eyes, this time on Benjamin Francis Leftwich’s “Shine”. Right out of the gate, a charming pan-flute bolstered by a little shaker induced four-four clap segue wonderfully into those unmistakable Leftwich vocals, which themselves are thickened up with a bit of reverb as well. You might have heard this one on Kygo’s recent mix for BBC Radio One’s Diplo & Friends radio show, and if you were anything like us, you couldn’t wait for its official release.
