[Deep/Tech-House] Blond:ish – Inward Vision EP

The London by way of Montreal female house duo of Anastacia and Vivie-Ann, or Blond:ish as they are known to the house music community, have already earned a warranted reputation as some of the globe’s hardest working live DJ’s with performances in what seems like a different country every weekend. A consistently busy pair, Blond:ish’s latest release  their place as truly elite producers and an esteemed piece of the flourishing house movement. We had the chance to catch them live a few weeks back and holy cow can those girls throw down for three hours straight, but it is great to see Blond:ish flexing their production muscle for their fan base too.
Leading off Inward Visions is “No Place Like Gnome”. Pulsating bass helms the track with a lovely sampling of building and pretty synth play arranged in a way to induce lucid visions while busting a groove on a sweaty dance-floor. Following “No Place Like Gnome” is a change of pace in the extended play’s title track “Inward Vision”.  A gritty four-to-the-floor bass is glossed up by a guitar sample, complete with all those creative re-appropriations of sounds that fans of theirs have come to know and expect.
Inward Vision while definitely a departure from what music fans have become to know as “EDM”, is a solid listen and a house EP for those looking for soul, danceability and a distinct groove. Check out both tracks above.

Bastille – Pompeii (Rise & Fool Remix)

Pompeii (Rise & Fool Remix)

French House and Nu-Disco purveyors Rise & Fool, who like to be simply listed as “a boy and girl making music”, dropped their latest track to us and quite honestly it had our heads unconsciously shaking like a cheap bobblehead.  Countless remixers have plied their sound unto Bastille’s “Pompeii”, but it took a pair of fellow Europeans to pull the disco out of it, and their execution was spot-on. While not an officially licensed remix, Rise & Fool just wanted the chance to throw the cut into their DJ sets, while maintaining much of the original’s musical integrity and for us, they hit the nail right on the head. After a slow-burning build, we are taken into four-to-the-floor drum kick territory complete with echoing synths and a slight reverb added to the vocal track to finish it out nicely.  As an even greater treat to our DJ contingent out there in cyberspace, they’re giving the 320 away as a free download, so do please take advantage and show a little support to the artistic community. Grab and stream Rise & Fool’s remix of Bastille’s “Pompeii” above.

2009 DJ Remixes Club/Dance Music Geniuses! Vol.1

Ahh.. *sigh* dance music, my wonderful friend that keeps my body in motion at clubs and Discos. No matter how tired and/or drunk I may be (not that I always am :D), you are the one I can lean on in times of trouble. There are many types of electronic music for each mood you may be in, but if you want to party and dance all night long, nothing beats club remixes… just like the name describes it.. it is these tracks that are specifically designed to move your feet and get you emotionally ready to keep moving until you drop.

My first “2009 DJ Remixes Club/Dance Music Geniuses!” will be about an amazing duo from Scarborough just off the eastcoast of UK, THE SQUATTERS. Not only was I impressed by their tracks but also by the consistent level of quality throughout their work. It was hard not to post all their songs on here. Not only are their beats flawlessly remixed but they incorporate enough crescendoing, build ups, that just get you excited for more. Enough of the talk, I will let their tracks speak for themselves.
