[Electro] Dr. Fresch – No Introduction EP

Dr. Fresch recently took his sound down a new road and in doing so he has further flexed his musical abilities straight in our faces, or ears. His EP, No Introduction, comes with four singles including his already successful track “Fire.”

Released on Insomniac Records, No Introduction brings the heat right away and never lets up. The collection of songs share a similar umbrella style in electro, but Dr. Fresch and company, including Mina Knock and JACKNIFE, don’t just trudge forward with watered down dance music. Instead they burst forth with an amazing, cohesive project that pays homage to classic tracks while also showing where this genre is headed.

[Breakbeat] Jackal x Dr. Fresch – Netflix N Kill

Jackal X Dr. Fresch
NETFLIX N' KILL

Buygore has no shortage of bangers. Neither do Jackal or Dr. Fresch who teamed up for the Buygore record “Netflix N Kill.” Right off the bat, you know you’re in for something special with this song. The introduction goes by in a flash, despite it’s generally average length of a minute, and then you are met with a savage drop that takes the best parts of several styles and puts them together in one composition. With a screeching synth, some bass growls and crafty percussion, these producers put together a complete beast. Live, I can only imagine what kind of destruction this causes to a crowd. Whether you are a dancer, or just a headbanger, “Netflix N Kill” is the track for you. With the second drop, they switch things up for a bit by cutting time on the percussion to bring some trapstyle vibes that make for a nice shift in energy. You’re gonna want to get a copy of this from Beatport, 100%.

[Future/Dance] Snoop Dogg – Sensual Seduction (Dr. Fresch Remix)

Snoop Dogg
Sensual Seduction (Dr. Fresch's #FutureSex Remix)

Dr. Fresch has been an artist with whom we’ve become a bit enamored with through a varied collection of original tunes and remixes which touch down on nearly every genre encasing the subterranean dance sector. This time around, the L.A. based electronic producer has revealed yet another wrinkle to his production game with a very forward thinking remix of the Snoop Dogg hit “Sensual Seduction”; which fuses together components of house (both deep and G), trap, 2-step, and disko laden synths to create something we’ve never before felt or heard. Rather than turning in a formulaic dance remix on this one, Dr. Fresch’s version tells a complete story taking us from the scooting melody and retooled, high pitch vocals through its climax of deep bass, pitched down Snoop rumblings and slight wobble to boot. It’s always exciting to see artists tap into their more creative sides, especially when it’s executed with the same finesse you’ve come to love them for in the first place. We’re surely not the only ones with a musical crush on Dr. Fresch either as he was just a part of Global Dance Festival’s Main Stage at the best venue in the world, glorious Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Denver. We can’t wait for another shot at a set from Dr. Fresch, but until then, his tunes will have to hold us over. Hella Good (Dr. Fresch's Summer Revival Remix)

With temperatures rising stateside, our auditory focus always begins to shift upwards towards more radiant, sunlit sounds, especially in regards to dance music. So right when we were in need of some honey-coated shake inducing deep rhythms, L.A. house purveyor Dr. Fresch gifted us with his newest remix; this time of No Doubt’s 2001 pop smash “Hella Good”. While the original tune doesn’t exactly scream pool vibes or palm trees aside from lyrical content, Dr. Fresch has reinvigorated “Hella Good” and Gwen Stefani’s luscious, powerful vocals with signature highs and a rooted bass line; but taking this edit to even greater heights is an absurdly groovy alto-saxophone line written and performed by Sapphire Adizes which just oozes sexiness. We’ve been all ears to Dr. Fresch’s latest string of remixes, and today’s will certainly keep us in that piqued state of mind. Grab a Mai-Tai, slip on a little Summery dance attire and grab the free download to kick this Hump Day into gear.

[Indie-Dance/G-House] Dr. Fresch – You’re My Obsession

Dr. Fresch
You're My Obsession (ft. Nate Dogg & Animotion)

In the span of just a few recent releases, L.A.’s Dr. Fresch has quickly become one of our go-to sources of consistently proper Disko and House music. We last featured the line-towing producer with the release of a self-titled EP on his own Prep School Recordings imprint, which we fell head over heels for and today we’re happy to bring TMN another slice of the Dr. Fresch picture. Fusing vocal elements from two classic tracks -Animotion’s sticky sweet 80’s heater “Obsession” spliced with a tinge of Nate Dogg’s “I Got Love”- “You’re My Obsession” occupies a unique space between mainstream and underground while exuding the kind of dance credibility most producers yearn for. It was out of the blue that Dr. Fresch was mused to produce this one, from a classic video game session of GTA: Vice  City as Animotion’s hypnotic anthem struck an inspirational chord with the producer, undoubtedly while virtually mowing down hoards of police and innocent civilians (because we hear that’s what goes on in those games). He’s been quoted as saying “I was playing GTA: Vice City a couple months back and got inspired to remix my favorite track from the game, “Obsession”. Then, I sprinkled a little Nate Dogg vocal on top, and this is what I came up with.” Well as simple as that sounds, we know there was much more to it than that but we really, really like it.
