[TMN Exclusive] Mitis Gets Personal About His Upcoming EP

MitiS
1.16.2016

Today is Mitis’ Birthday. Aside from it being the usual amount of special, Mitis wanted to add another layer of meaning by making a special announcement to his fans. There’s only a few things that can be said via a third party about what’s ahead in the very near future for this bass producer. First off, an EP is coming. Second, Mitis has already previewed a beautiful composition from the project recently, with only his birth date as the title. Well, that day has come and Mitis is ready to tell you just what is on the horizon. After you check out our mini-interview we had with him, make sure to head on over to his social media to get the full scoop of just what he has locked and loaded for his old, and new fans alike.

TMN: What’s this EP mean to you personally?

It reminds me to remember my roots, where I came from, and how I got where I am now.

TMN: What can we expect from this EP?

Melodic dubstep, trance, progressive house and maybe something else.

TMN: Do you see the Mitis project as taking it’s next step in its evolution forward with this EP & Birthday announcement?

I do! I think going back to writing melodic dubstep was really helpful in remembering how much I love writing it. I know fans have been asking for it for the past year or so, so it was time.

TMN: Is there anything in particular you’d like to tell fans about the EP?

Just get ready for some new MitiS and some familiar sounds.

CID Signs To Big Beat & Releases New Single, “Love Is Blind” [TMN Premiere]

CID
Love Is Blind (Radio Edit)

The New York Grammy winning producer CID, who has been on tour with Kaskade, recently signed to Big Beat/Atlantic Records. As if that Music Ninja exclusive announcement wasn’t enough, he brings an original single along with it called “Love Is Blind.” This bubbly deep house record is a collaboration with Glenna that just released today.

“Love Is Blind” starts off with the monumental vocal that spearheads the introduction. Subtle percussion and a synth background build up into a climactic release into the groovy drop. He uses a wubby stab synth as the main melodic phrase, but he fills out the rest of the spectrum with various sounds, including bringing the vocal back for dancers to sing along to. Both clubs and festivals are going to be rocked by “Love Is Blind,” which is one of our favorite CID tracks to date. Press play, and expect some more big releases from him soon on Big Beat! If you would like to add the song to your Spotify, then you can do so below.

Pegboard Nerds Talk Monstercat, Collaborations, and Paul McCartney [TMN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

Recently, TMN was granted the privilege to talk to the whimsical personalities of Alexander Odden and Michael Parsberg, the dynamic duo behind Pegboard Nerds. Before kicking off two major releases with Monstercat–Bring The Madness: The Remixes EP and their feature on Monstercat’s 021 Perspective Compilation–we had a chance to sit down with them in NYC’s Webster Hall right before they threw down a massive set.

Excision & Pegboard Nerds
Bring The Madness (Ft. Mayor Apeshit)

TMN: How’s it feel to be playing at Webster Hall in NYC? This is your second time back right?

Alex: Being back at Webster Hall feels fuckin’ awesome. It’s kinda intimidating too you know because it’s such a stable trademark of New York so you gotta be on point and deliver.

Michael: Same.

Alex: (Laughs) You can’t say same!

TMN: Best response yet. How did you guys first get involved with Monstercat and how do you feel about the future of the label?

Michael: Well it started back in 2012, early, early twelve. A friend from Australia actually pitched one of our songs to Monstercat because they were needing a track for one of their compilations and it kinda just went on from there. They wanted one more track, one more track, one more track, and it went on, went on, went on and all the way up. Yeah, so that’s how we started.

Then you asked about the future of the label, right? It’s difficult to predict, but I think they have a good track record and a good following, and the philosophy of the label is really good. They’re not focusing on doing the next big Hardwell, Axwell, Made-well, Big-well, Aoki-well, Sleep-well, whatever. They just wanna do great new talent.

The Trap Dojo #37 + [TMN Premiere] Wild Belle – Keep You (Team Bayside High Premiere

I’m sure if you’re a regular Trap Dojo listener the name Team Bayside High is familiar, and this week, we’re very stoked to be bringing you the premiere of their brand new remix of Chicago indie rockers Wild Belle’s new single “Keep You”.  This remix keeps some of Wild Belle’s soulful lyrics but packs it full of heavy hitting bass along with the deep horns of the original. Watch out for the second drop with a high spacey riff that will definitely have you coming back again and again. Team Bayside High has been all over the map with the material that they choose to remix and have yet to disappoint. They also released an original tune this week called “Gold Heart” that’s featured later on the list, proving that they can craft their own tunes just as well as they can remix. You probably heard the new Knife Party EP Haunted House, and next up CRNKN turns the song “LRAD” into a huge hard-hitting trap machine.  Not much needs to be said about this next track other than its an RL Grime remix of “Love Sosa” by Chief Keef. Last week we included the original version of this Yellow Claw track, and now the homies Watapachi turn it up to 11.  Flosstradamus samples all those great lines about asses from “Mercy” for this booty-dropping anthem, with enough bass that would really feel like an “Assquake” when played on the right system. Next up is an awesome Justin Timberlake remix from Ricky Vaughn. This is the third JT remix he’s released and the third one to really impress me, and he’s said that he has more on the way. Next up we’ve got a bunch of Hip-Hop and Grime infused Trap before getting back to the more electronic side with J.Rabbit, Big Chocolate, Carnage, Dan Farber  and more. The last few songs really cool things down and the list ends with an amazing remix of the classic tune “Smoke Rings (Where Do They Go)”  perfect for a lazy summer evening.
