[Trap] Bobby Blakdout and Dabow – FRESH/WERK

The world of electronic music is no stranger to innovative collaborations, yet the impending dual single release from powerhouse artists Bobby Blakdout and Dabow is setting a new benchmark. Out now, fans across the globe will be treated to a fusion of hip-hop and bass with “FRESH” featuring MC Eiht and “WERK” featuring KXNG Crooked, all under the umbrella of Bobby’s independent label, Blak’d Out.

The genius of “FRESH” lies in its masterful blend. MC Eiht, renowned for his iconic West Coast flow and reflective Compton-centric narratives, lends his voice to the track. It becomes a mesmerizing dance as his lines weave through the intricate electronic beats crafted by the duo.

But the innovation doesn’t stop there. “WERK” sees the lyrical style of KXNG Crooked, a former Slaughterhouse member with ties to illustrious labels like Death Row and Shady Records. His razor-sharp lyrics fuse with a pulsating electronic flow, exemplifying the limitless potential of these genres colliding.

While both Bobby Blakdout and Dabow have individually pushed the boundaries of music production, their collaborative efforts promise an experience greater than their individual successes.

The anticipation is palpable. Fans best gear up for what is in store here, there’s unanimous agreement: Bobby Blakdout and Dabow are not just releasing singles, they are bringing something different to the community. Prepare for a seismic shift.

[New] Michael Kiwanuka- Home Again

British singer/songriter Michael Kiwanuka is a fresh cup of coffee for a world of drowsy, early morning, soul music. Michael comes equipped with melodic guitars, light percussion, and a voice that’s somewhere between Otis Redding, Miles Davis, Bill Withers, and Robert Pattinson. The title track of his new CD, “Home Again”, is an introspective take on the comfort and safety of home, and how you long for it when you’re away.

Home again, Michael’s new album, will be out on March 26th 2012 on Mumford & Sons‘ Communion label. Pre-orders are available.

[Fresh/Experimental] Ratatat Releases LP4 June 4th + New Tracks

Ratatat – DRUGS

’02 DRUGS.mp3′

Prepare yourself because on June 8th, New York City electro due, Ratatat will finally be releasing their full-lenth LP4. They recorded the album at the same Old Soul Studios in Catskill, N.Y., where, as Paste describes it, is where they found the wealth of old synths, harpsichords, grand pianos, and other keyboard instruments evident throughout the last effort.

Ratatat – Grape Juicy City

The duo consisting of guitarist Mike Stroud and synthesizer, bass player, and producer Evan Mast, were my first introduction to the experimental genre with their synthesized /electronic/ experimental/ trip/hop style. They are able to produce multi-instrumental beats that are not only non-intrusive but incredibly organic. No matter how synthesized some of the melodies may appear, their music stays grounded to a genuine acoustic feel that makes the entire experience feel very natural. Ratatat caters to everyone, using enough rhythmic bass lines to please hip/hop fans of the like of Kid Cudi, while still creating provocative and melodic psychedelic guitar solos for the hardcore experimental junkies.

[Hip/Hop] Kidd Russell "E North Ave" feat. Ross Golan

Lets face it, most Americans have been affected by the slow economy these past few months.. including yours truly (main reason why I am not at SXSW right now). But so what? Life has got to go on no matter what happens and keeping a positive attitude goes a long way. Upcoming indie artists Kidd Russell not only believes this is true but emphasizes that the small things in life and the people we surround ourselves with is what ultimately gives us all the wealth we need. This fun and catchy song will be available on his new album Backyard Heroes dropping March 27th.

[New Releases] First 2 Weeks of January 2010

Aside from, hopefully, featuring great songs, we feel like in 2010 we’ve got to step our game up and be on top of the latest releases. What is there to look up to this January? You’ve come to the right place. Here are a couple of new releases we are looking for.

flying-lotus
Flying Lotus is all about exploring the experimental possibilities of other genres. He released a couple of tracks a couple of months back giving Lil Wayne some glitches and dreamy synthesized melodies converting the track into a surreal experience. He’s a well involved artist that produces his own music and always stays current remixing new songs. If you do not know a thing about this guy, listen to a couple of his previous work below. Massage situation came out in 2007 in his Reset EP; Rickshaw is the 7th track in L.A. EP 1 X 3 from 2008; and the last goodie is a remix from another experimental/electronic DJ Nosaj Thing.

Music that will make you feel good about waking up and going to work/school/etc. I am not a morning person and I always need something, a side from my alarm clock, to motivate my ass to get up from bed. These are not necessarily all energetic songs but they are designed to make waking up a little less painful.
