[Electronic] Autograf – Dead Soon Remixes EP

The good ol’ creatives that make up Autograf have recently unveiled remixes for their single “Dead Soon” that’s still gaining its own steam. Augmenting the heat are three remixers who have completely different takes on the original. They’re all fire and all flips the original deserved.

First we kick things off with a future bass cut from Scorsi that rides its wave of synths right into the pleasure centers of your brain. Next comes Detroit’s Golf Clap with one of the coolest, grooviest remixes we’ve heard in a bit. Lastly, the Birthdayy Partyy twins turn up the energy to astonishing levels with their bass-driven take that pays homage to the electro house sounds of the 2012 era, while bringing everything forward to 2018. All together, this is an EP you need in your library.

PS, if you didn’t check the chill mix, we’ve got you covered here too 😉

[Festival Review] Four Days In The Life of a Ninja at Movement Music Festival

movement

Detroit’s fabled Movement Electronic Music Festival (formerly DEMF) was a visceral experience to say the least. From the sternum throttling bass kicks of the world’s loudest soundsystems designed exactly for all facets of dance music, the artificial crunch of plastic bottles and beer cans condensing beneath our feet in a warehouse basement at 5:00 a.m., to the general amounts of love from nearly every corner of the industry; we had an engaging and wonderful time. And with new owners Paxahau doing most everything in their ability to ensure a great Memorial Day Weekend, for the most part, the shows went off without a hitch.

Our team arrived late Friday night, and with still at least a couple of hours left in the evening to party before Movement’s official kick off the following afternoon, we headed to Detroit’s gritty warehouse district for an incredibly deep and storied lineup featuring both Moodyman and Theo Parrish taking us all to the Church of House through a vinyl only, eclectic set fusing neo-jazz, classic disco and plenty of contemporary house and techno without well… too much mixing really. It was certainly a throwback night in every sense, even an ode to Paradise Garage maestro Larry Levan style mixing. It was great to get back to our roots, stop being so damn critical, just enjoy a couple of dance music legends and set the stage for our weekend.

It seems within recent years the Mile High City of Denver, CO has been blessed with an abundance of incredible live music; especially larger scale offerings. So, when we heard our good friends at TheHundred Presents had put together one of the most eclectic and multifarious festival lineups we’d ever seen, we knew we had to get our Ninjas involved. On September 20th, The Cloak & Dagger Music Festival brings a wealth of underground dance talent, including Cashmere Cat, Holy Ghost!, Justin Martin, Thomas Jack, Kidnap Kid, Martyn, Midland, Moon Boots, Gigamesh, Sango, Pomo, Homework, Golf Clap, Graff as well as a few more lesser known acts championed by TMN in the past including Need & Necessity, Keepers. and Action 52 all in the span of one day.
