[Hip-Hop] Joey Bada$$ – Day in the Life

NYC emcee Joey Bada$$ is back again with another dope track for your listening enjoyment. The single “Day in the Life” has the young spitter flexing his lyrical prowess over some Harry Fraud production. The smooth jazz influenced drums, keys, and horns make for a nice throwback beat for the 2013 Freshman class rapper to dominate. This track is impressive and can be heard on Peter Rosenberg‘s upcoming New York Renaissance mixtape, dropping later this year.

[Hip-Hop] Danny Brown – #HottestMC (Prod. Harry Fraud)

It’s that time of year again when MTV releases its “Hottest MCs in The Game” list, which is always bound to stir up some controversy. A plethora of rappers have already expressed that they feel slighted by their rank, including Kanye West and A$AP Rocky. Now Danny Brown‘s stepped up to give us his two cents. Rather than phoning into any radio shows though, Danny demonstrates why he belongs to be mentioned amongst the top emcees with this brand new Harry Fraud-produced track. Brown comes packing heat on this one, leaving no doubt in our minds that he’s one of the best rappers out there right now.

[Hip-Hop] Casey Veggies – Life Changes (Mixtape)

Young Inglewood native, Casey Veggies, has been on the hip-hop radar dating back to his features on the early Odd Future mixtapes. Although he has since parted ways with the OF clan, Veggies has certainly shown an ability to hold his own continuing to find cosigns among top-tier emcees. Life Changes, his latest mixtape, may be his breakout project with features and production from the likes of The Futuristiks, DJ Dahi, Dom Kennedy, 1500 or Nothin’ and Harry Fraud. Through out the piece of work we see the 19 year-old spitter emerge with the confidence that comes with your fifth mixtape.

Life Changes is a solid project from start to finish carrying a new age, west coast sound with Veggies exuding ambition, confidence and versatility. While there remains some roughness around the edges, this is certainly a significant step in the right direction for the young emcee. [Hip-Hop] Harry Fraud – Mean (ft. French Montana & Action Bronson)

Although you will never ever catch this ninja riding around in a Scion, I must admit that they are on top of it with their enlistment of up ‘n coming artists. Their collaboration with Danny Brown on “Grown Up” still stands as one of my favorite tracks of his. This time around, they recruit the seemingly omnipresent emerging New York based producer Harry Fraud to create a characteristically laid back instrumental with fellow NYC-bred French Montana (who actually spent the first thirteen years of his life in Morocco) and TMN favorite Action Bronson hopping on the mic.

On “Mean,” Montana kicks things off with his “Stay Schemin”-esque gangster crooning paving the way for the always lyrically creative and comic Action Bronson whose verse proves fitting for the song title. Stream the track below and head over to the Scion A/V site for a free download of both the track and its chill, east-coast instrumental.

[Hip-Hop] Heems – Cowabunga Gnarly (prod. Harry Fraud)

Queens-bred Heems, of Das Racist, continues his string of incredibly dope, albeit absurd, conscious raps with the latest Harry Fraud produced release from his highly anticipated upcoming mixtape. On “Cowabunga Gnarly,” Fraud, a rapidly rising artist, departs slightly from his signature sound setting the backdrop perfectly for his fellow NYC native with persistent, heavy drums and a variety of sprinkled vocal samples. In top form, Himanshu provides some insightful social commentary regarding race and materialism all the while maintaining his strangely engaging and free-flowing delivery. Unlike many artists who attempt to unveil modern issues, Heems does an unbelievable job of keeping the raps simultaneously entertaining and educational with his originality and own brand of comic relief.

Stream and download the unique “Cowabunga Gnarly” below and look out for Wild Water Kingdom, which is due out on November 1st via Greedhead.
