Jai Wolf
Drive ft. The Chain Gang of 1974 (KRNE Remix)

KRNE is no stranger to solid remixes. He’s done them before, and he’s going to do them again. With the Oakland producer’s latest, he takes on “Drive” by Jai Wolf and The Chain Gang of 1974. With a tempo and stylistic change, KRNE really did something dope with this one.

For those who don’t know the original, it had a midtempo, French electro style that paid homage to classic records. In steps KRNE to give it the modern future bass flair it so much deserves. He gives the single a bit more oomph and size, making it a record that feels as though it engulfs you, rather than one you are simply listening to. Both drops in this remix are super cool, with rich synth work; but, with the second drop we get a bit more spunk and energy. This is one of those tracks you’ll play from beginning to end without any skips, and chances are you will play it more than once. Stream it today, and make sure to hit up Soundcloud or Spotify to check the full remix EP.

Jai Wolf – Drive (feat. Chain Gang of 1974)

Jai Wolf has come a long way since No Pets Allowed, and watching his rapid ascent to success has been quite the trip to say the least. Since his recent foray into original material with Indian Summer, he’s shifted to creating songs that make you feel like you could just jump and fly away whenever you want. “Drive” is his wonderful second original offering and it exists as a dreamy counterpart to Indian Summer, stacked from top to bottom with breathtaking production and effervescent vocals from The Chain Gang of 1974. In short, it’s miraculous. The Foreign Family Collective continues its winning streak with “Drive,” and we’re all better off because of it.

Slow Shudder – Call You Back

A timely repost on SoundCloud can be an awesome thing, and, thanks to AObeats, we were given the opportunity to hear the debut tune from London’s own Slow Shudder. She’s already on to something with “Call You Back.” She effortlessly delivers each verse with her lofty and light voice before the tune quickly turns to a combination of club kick patterns, fluttering synths, and chirpy vocal chops that exhibits a level hand and production standard of more established artists before her. “Call You Back” is a strong statement to start with, and now we’re certainly ready to hear more from Slow Shudder.

Annabel Jones – Happy

You know good pop when you hear it. It isn’t hard to decipher. However, Annabel Jones makes something better than just good pop music. “Happy” proves it. Something about her delivery and soothing voice meshes well with any and all production, even the unpredictable instrumentation of this newest tune. Juggling angelic synths and almost PC Music-esque elements, “Happy” manages to completely change course multiple times in only four minutes, but the cohesiveness is maintained throughout. When it comes to following up a huge hit like IOU, it can be a difficult time, but Annabel Jones didn’t have any trouble at all creating a sweet new single for all of us to enjoy. Thalab – Wreck

Everything about this Thalab song is gorgeous. This is the sort of crazy and beautiful result you get when you smash together the best of electronica, alternative, folk, and even a little soul. The sound design is second to none, and the spacious atmosphere created manages to also stay grounded because of the tactful use of acoustic guitar juxtaposed with careening and lush synths. We’ll be the first to admit we aren’t entirely familiar with many producers from Spain, but these Barcelona natives have managed to pique our curiosity into expanding our exploration into a more international approach. End your day on the perfect note with this one.

ardency

Commandeur – Wasted (Ardency Remix)

We love Ardency. They’ve pulled together a reputable collection of remixes and a handful of originals, and their latest project stems from the former. Fun Fact: Commandeur is the side project of the drummer from the great Australian band Panama, and this duo snagged a chance to give their own spin on his tune “Wasted.” There’s a classic, almost revamped 80’s edge to Ardency’s production that makes for an emotional rollercoaster on certain occasions, and this is absolutely one of times. It’s hard to deny the power of an electronic pop tune like this, and Ardency prides themselves on demonstrating their abilities in reshaping an older sound into something fresh and new. [Electronic] Jai Wolf – Indian Summer

Jai Wolf
Indian Summer

Jai Wolf had been killing it for quite some time before his performance at Coachella made him a poster boy of sorts for the group of up ‘n comers that make the DoLab so special. As he continues his ascent in the world of dance music, Wolf hits an extra special landmark today becoming the third artist to release a single through the Odesza-curated Foreign Family Collective. Just as Foreign Fam’s last release, “Aftergold,” served as the perfect culmination of Big Wild‘s production approach, “Indian Summer” serves as an anthem that succinctly captures Jai Wolf’s style.

As its name suggests, the single features a distinct influence from Indian music primarily fueled by the vocal sample that emerges into a radiant drop driven by percussion that fans of Odesza are sure to appreciate. It’s a gorgeous tune that’ll contribute to Jai Wolf’s quickly surmounting momentum as he hits more festivals and solo dates around the country. Give “Indian Summer” a listen above and make sure to save it for your summer playlist.

[Future] Mocki – Weekend (Jai Wolf Remix)

Mocki
Weekend (Jai Wolf Remix)

Jai Wolf is a name that’s been synonymous with consistent rising success lately. He made big waves with his remix of Skrillex’s Ease My Mind, which at first was a bootleg but ended up getting picked for an official release and has been a cornerstone of Sonny’s sets since. This newest re-imagination comes to us via a Kitsune Maison release of Mocki‘s “Weekend.” Jai Wolf has ironed out his future trap sound, ranging from heavy hitters to lighter and fun chiptune inspired numbers. This “Weekend” falls under the latter, hearkening to some textbook Wave Racer influences, but with bigger drum work and an overall sound tailored for big performances. The amount of growth he’s undergone since shedding his previous title of No Pets Allowed is staggering and no one can slow hime down. His catalog of official remixes continues to impress and this take on Mocki is another thriving addition to his collection.

Say My Name feat. Zyra (Jai Wolf Remix)[Counter Records]

Hopefully you haven’t grown tired of hearing the million Odesza‘s “Say My Name” remixes out there, but this one is right up there with the best ones. New York-based producer Jai Wolf recently released his take on the popular tune, and let’s just say it’s oh so juicy!

Ranges from melodic dubstep to chill trap, Jai Wolf cleans it up with a slower trap beat, while staying true to the original track by keeping its melody and Zyra’s vocals. It starts off with this deep bass which sets the stage for this banger remix, and when the drop comes, these unique oriental sounding synths take the spotlight. It’s one of those tunes that are so catchy that you can’t get enough of.

Make sure to catch him at his first headlining show for “I’m Shmacked NYC” tomorrow at Stage 48! With so many tricks up his sleeve, Jai Wolf is definitely one of the more exciting artists to watch.
